Overview

Фантомный клинок

Game iconPhantom Blade is a rare-quality one-handed sword that hails from the earliest days of World of Warcraft. It is an elegant, narrow blade with a ghostly grey, almost transparent guard and a thin edge that looks as if it were half made of mist. The silhouette is calm and austere, with no spikes or ornate decorations, so the sword fits well into understated, "phantom" and magical looks.

Originally this was a crafted blacksmith weapon, and it is precisely as a transmog model that the Phantom Blade is valued today: the item's stats have long been irrelevant, while its austere, semi-transparent shape still looks fresh. You obtain it through the Blacksmithing profession, and the plan itself drops in a dungeon, so getting it takes a bit of work — which makes the result all the more rewarding.

Source

Game iconPhantom Blade does not drop from an enemy directly — it is crafted by a character with the Blacksmithing profession. To learn how to forge the sword, you need the item Game iconPlans: Phantom Blade.

  • The plan drops in the Stratholme dungeon, in the wing by the main gate. This is a "zone" drop — it comes from the inhabitants of the wing rather than being tied to a single named boss.
  • The dungeon has long been outdated: a character of current level clears it solo without difficulty, so farming the plan comes down only to drop chance.
  • The chance is low, so be ready for several runs. If you do not have your own blacksmith, you can look for a finished sword on the auction house — the recipe is known to many players with a leveled profession.

Forging requires a Blacksmithing skill of about 270 and the following reagents.

The finished sword becomes soulbound on pickup, so you cannot craft it for sale — you must either gather it on the blacksmith yourself or order it from another player by handing over the reagents.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Looks for the mage, warlock and priest in a "battle caster" role — the ghostly guard echoes the magical theme.
  • Understated sets in grey-steel and silvery tones — the blade does not draw attention to itself.
  • Concepts with an undead and otherworldly theme: the semi-transparent edge looks great next to dark leather or bone armor.
  • Looks for the rogue and undead hunter, where a light, unobtrusive weapon is needed.

Tips

1

Before runs for the plan, make sure you are entering exactly the wing by the main gate of Stratholme, and not another part of the dungeon.

2

The old dungeon is cleared fastest on classes with high mobility and steady self-healing — this way you can do more clears in an hour.

3

The reagents for the sword are inexpensive and almost all of them are gathered through the Mining and Leatherworking professions or bought on the auction house — stock up in advance so you can forge the blade right after the plan drops.

4

If you do not have the Blacksmithing profession yourself, look for a finished sword or a crafter with the recipe through the game's search channels — the model is fairly well known.

5

The sword is soulbound on pickup, so plan which character you want to wear the transmog on: unlocking the appearance becomes available to the whole account after you obtain it anyway.

6

Keep a few spare reagents: at a low skill level, forging may not succeed on the first try without a guaranteed success.
