Reforged Trollbane — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Reforged Trollbane is an epic-quality two-handed axe with a massive, heavy blade and a dark metal finish. It is a reforged version of the epic blade of the Trollbane line from Stromgarde, and the flavor text hints directly at its history: "You're familiar with this blade...".
The weapon belongs to the two-handed axe type and fits the appearance for classes that wield such weapons. Despite its epic quality, its item level is low (23) — it has long been outdated in terms of stats, but it remains sought after precisely as a transmog thanks to its recognizable lore model.
The axe was added in the Cataclysm expansion alongside the rework of the Zul'Aman dungeon into a five-player group format. It can only be obtained as part of the local timed event, which makes the appearance both desirable and relatively rare on characters.
Source
The axe lies inside Norkani's Package — a chest that appears after rescuing a prisoner during the timed event in the Zul'Aman dungeon. The dungeon itself is located in the Ghostlands zone.
- Enter Zul'Aman and speak with Harrison Jones at the inner gates — he will strike the gong and start the timed event.
- Once it starts, you have 20 minutes to kill the first of the beast bosses. The order is up to you.
- Killing certain bosses adds time: defeating Nalorakk adds extra minutes to the timer, and so does Akil'zon.
- Rescued prisoners leave behind reward chests; one of them contains Norkani's Package with the axe.
- This is outdated content, so the dungeon can be soloed on practically any class — the only real limitation remains the 20-minute timer, not the difficulty of the fights.
The axe has no guaranteed drop: it is part of the event's prize pool, so several runs may be required. The dungeon resets daily, so the farm can be repeated every day.
Alternatives
"Reforged Trollbane" itself has no official color variants — it is a unique lore model. By silhouette and dark finish, other massive two-handed axes from a similar era come close to it.
- If you specifically want the look of an "ancient ancestral blade," aim for heavy two-handed axes with a broad blade from Cataclysm dungeons and earlier expansions.
- There are no direct recolors of this particular model in the game, so to vary the palette, choose the surrounding set rather than a variant of the weapon itself.
Who It Suits Visually
- It harmonizes with heavy plate armor in dark and steel tones — the image of a grim warrior or knight.
- It fits lore builds in the spirit of Stromgarde and House Trollbane — the ancestral weapon sets the theme.
- It contrasts nicely with light paladin armor, adding a gloomy accent to a pristine look.
- It pairs well with appearances that feature dark metal and a minimum of bright color inserts — the axe supports a restrained palette.
Tips
Start the event right after entering: the 20 minutes count from the moment Harrison Jones strikes the gong, so don't waste time on scouting.
Take a mobile class with high damage — the faster you kill the beast bosses, the better your chances of meeting the timer and reaching the chests.
Nalorakk and Akil'zon extend the timer, so in a solo run it makes sense to head for them first.
The dungeon can be restarted every day, so if you fail, simply repeat the run the next day.
The axe is bind on pickup, so you'll have to collect it with the character who needs the appearance; through the appearance collection it will then become available to your entire account.
If you are farming the appearance for your collection, also check the other rewards of the timed event — in a single run you can complete several Zul'Aman appearances at once.
