Wandering Arden Doe
Overview

Wandering Arden Doe is an epic ground and flying mount added in patch 9.1 "Chains of Domination" of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a graceful Arden doe named Maelie the Wanderer, trained by the tiny fae Tinybell in Korthia. The mount is awarded for the quest Maelie, The Wanderer after you find and return Maelie to her owner six times.
Maelie is a doe spirit from Ardenweald who keeps running off and hiding all across Korthia. Your task is to find her among the cliffs and roots and coax her back to Tinybell. The mount has an elegant model with the distinctive green glow typical of Ardenweald creatures.
Why you want this mount
- Completely free — it requires no gold, reputation, or rare drop. You just need to spend a few minutes a day over the course of six days
- Guaranteed acquisition — unlike mounts with a percentage drop chance, the Reins of the Wanderer is a quest reward. Meet the conditions and the mount is yours
- Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air, adapting to your riding skill
- Unique model — the Wandering Arden Doe stands out among standard mounts. A glowing doe with elements of forest magic looks striking in any location
- Available to all characters — once obtained, the mount becomes available on every character on your account
- Quick to farm at max level — at level 80, Korthia content is trivial, and finding Maelie takes mere minutes a day
Requirements
- A character of level 10+ (to use the mount)
- Access to Korthia through the Shadowlands story campaign (patch 9.1)
- 6 days to find Maelie (not necessarily consecutive)
- Apprentice riding skill (for ground mode) or higher (for flying)
How to reach Korthia
Korthia is a hidden zone within the Maw that opens up as part of the patch 9.1 "Chains of Domination" story campaign. At max level (90) the easiest way to get there is as follows.
First visit
- Head to Oribos — the capital of the Shadowlands. The portal to Oribos is available from your faction's capital (Stormwind or Orgrimmar)
- Begin the "Chains of Domination" campaign with Bolvar Fordragon in the Hall of Atonement
- Complete the introductory quest chain that leads you through the Maw into Korthia
- Once you arrive, unlock the flight point at Keeper's Respite — the main hub in Korthia
Quick access (after unlocking)
- Use the portal to Oribos from your faction's capital
- In Oribos, find the portal to Korthia (it appears once the zone is unlocked)
- Keeper's Respite is the starting point, where Tinybell stands at coordinates 60.6, 21.8
Step-by-step guide
Step 1 — talk to Tinybell
Upon arriving at Keeper's Respite, find the fae Tinybell at coordinates 60.6, 21.8. She will tell you that she is training her doe Maelie, but the doe keeps running off and hiding all across Korthia. Tinybell will ask you to help find and return Maelie.
If Tinybell says in chat, "Excuse me,
Step 2 — find Maelie in Korthia
Maelie appears each day at one of many points across Korthia. She usually hides on cliffs, ledges, among giant roots, or at the edge of drop-offs. Use the macro /tar Maelie for a quick search once you are near one of the points.
Step 3 — calm Maelie
Once you find Maelie, right-click her to use the "Soothe" ability. After that, the doe will return to Tinybell at Keeper's Respite. The interaction counts once per day.
Step 4 — repeat six times
Return the next day and repeat the search. You need to find and soothe Maelie a total of six times. The days do not have to be consecutive — the cumulative count is what matters.
Step 5 — claim the reward
After the sixth successful return of Maelie, go back to Tinybell. She will offer the quest Maelie, The Wanderer, which rewards the
Reins of the Wanderer. Use the item to learn the mount.
All of Maelie's spawn points
Maelie appears at one of the following points in Korthia each day. The spawn point is the same for all players on a server on a given day.
Tips
1
Use a macro — create a macro and press it as you move between points. When the target is found, you will see Maelie's portrait in your target frame, even if she is not visible
2
Install the TomTom addon — enter the coordinates from the list above and the addon will plot a route through all the points, greatly speeding up the search
3
Check Tinybell first — if Tinybell does not say her line when you approach, Maelie may be unavailable that day. This saves time on a pointless search
4
Maelie is the same for everyone — Maelie's spawn point is the same for all players on a given day. Check chat or your community — someone may have already found her and shared the coordinates
5
Six days don't have to be consecutive — if you missed a day, no problem. Progress is saved, and you can continue on any convenient day
6
It's easy at level 80 — Korthia content is designed for Shadowlands level 60. At the current max level of 80, mobs pose no threat, and finding Maelie comes down to flying over the spawn points in a couple of minutes
7
Combine with other Korthia mounts — while looking for Maelie, keep an eye out for Korthia's rare mobs and treasures, which can also reward mounts and other valuable items
8
Shadowlands is legacy content — the Shadowlands expansion is legacy content in the current patch. The zone won't be crowded, but there will be virtually no competition for Maelie
