Replica Staff of Gul'dan — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Replica Staff of Gul'dan is a two-handed staff meant solely for transmogrification. It is an exact replica of Gul'dan's staff from the Warcraft movie: the model recreates the film prop rather than the warlock's in-game weapon. The item has almost no combat stats and deals 1-2 damage — it is carried purely for the look.
The item is account-bound and available to any Horde character. It was made a reward for the promotion tied to the 2016 Warcraft movie release during the Legion expansion, which is why the staff was never sold by a regular vendor and never dropped from bosses.
Source
The Replica Staff of Gul'dan was handed out as part of the Warcraft movie promotion and is no longer available. You can no longer obtain it in the current Midnight expansion — below is how it worked back in 2016.
- Any Horde character who logged into the game within two months of the film's international premiere (roughly May 25 – August 1, 2016) earned the achievement Fight for the Horde.
- The achievement itself did not grant the item directly. The first Horde character received a letter from High Warlord Bloodhilt with a container attached: the
Horde Strongbox. - Inside the Horde Strongbox were two items: the Replica Staff of Gul'dan and a one-handed axe, the
Replica Blood Guard's Cleaver. - The item is account-bound, so once received it becomes available to all Horde characters on the account through the appearance collection.
- Since the promotion ended long ago, you cannot get a new Horde Strongbox. Blizzard reserved the right to bring the rewards back in future promotions, but there are no concrete plans for that.
Who It Suits Visually
- It fits warlock and Shadow priest looks — the staff holds a green Fel crystal that echoes the green of demonology spells.
- It harmonizes with the dark-green and bone sets of orc warlocks from the Warlords of Draenor era.
- It contrasts with bright holy looks — a debatable but expressive choice for a priest playing on the image of a fallen servant.
- It is fitting in sets that reference the Warcraft movie and Gul'dan himself, thanks to the faithful replica of the film prop.
Tips
Check the mail and appearance collection on old Horde characters: if you logged into the game in 2016, the staff may already be unlocked on the account.
The appearance is bound to the Horde — on Alliance characters this staff will not appear in the wardrobe; they have their own pair of items from the Alliance Strongbox.
If you received the Horde Strongbox but did not open all its contents, look inside the letter: both the staff and the axe arrive together in one container.
For a modern look, pair the staff with Fel plate or robes the color of scorched green — the model is bright enough on its own to become the centerpiece of a set.
Do not look for this staff on the Black Market or with vendors: it was never sold there and never appeared for sale.
Watch for Blizzard announcements tied to anniversaries and new promotions — the only real chance to bring the movie rewards back is connected to those.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
