Overview

Ritual Dagger of the Mind's Eye

Game iconRitual Dagger of the Mind's Eye is a one-handed dagger of epic quality, added in patch 5.2 "The Thunder King" of the Mists of Pandaria expansion. Visually it is a short ritual blade with a curved edge and a massive mogu-style hilt: the distinctive color palette of dark gold and crimson-purple veins of energy echoes the shared weapon language of the Isle of Thunder.

This blade is the Raid Finder version. Four more difficulty variants share the same look and name, and the very same model is also used for Game iconFyn's Flickering Dagger from another raid boss.

Source

The dagger drops from the boss Durumu the Forgotten in the "Forgotten Depths" wing of the Throne of Thunder raid on the Isle of Thunder (Mists of Pandaria, patch 5.2).

  • Difficulty of version 95743 — Raid Finder.
  • Drop chance according to Wowhead — about 1.54%.
  • Limit: one Raid Finder clear of the raid per week per character.
  • Fully soloable at max level: the Durumu fight is killed in a few seconds, and the color-maze and gaze-beam mechanics are no longer a threat.
  • Raid entrance coordinates: /way 6622 67 49 (portal to Kun-Lai via the Shrine of Seven Stars → teleport to the Isle of Thunder).

Additionally: the "Ritual Dagger of the Mind's Eye" drops only from Durumu and not from the wing's general loot, so farming is pinpoint — run to the fourth boss, kill him, grab the item, leave, and reset the instance for the next cycle.

Who it suits visually

  • Looks built on the mogu and Thunder King color scheme — gold, bronze, dark purple and crimson.
  • Tier 15 and 16 sets from the Mists of Pandaria era, which keep the unified styling of the Isle of Thunder and Siege of Orgrimmar raids.
  • Dark-ritual priest or warlock builds: the blade reads well as a cultist artifact thanks to its curved edge.
  • Contrast with light cloth robes in pale shades — the dagger works as an accent in the hand thanks to its massive hilt.
  • A paired layout with the model-twin reward Game iconFyn's Flickering Dagger in the off-hand gives a rogue or enhancement shaman a symmetrical "cultist" silhouette.

Tips

1

The fastest class for the weekly run is any with a mass leap or distance-closer: monk, demon hunter, rogue. This cuts the path to the fourth boss down to 2–3 minutes.

2

In Raid Finder you can pick up the item via a bonus roll (Valor coins) — if the dagger didn't drop on your main roll, try a bonus one if you have any.

3

Durumu offers two loot-table variants: your roll accounts for your character's specialization, so for targeted farming of the dagger enter on an intellect specialization (healer or caster damage).

4

Alongside farming the dagger you can also collect the weapon inv_bow_2h_crossbow_thunderisleraid_d_01Durumu's Baleful Gaze.

5

If the goal is transmog only and not stats, the Raid Finder version is the cheapest in terms of time: Heroic and Thunderforged give visually the same blade but require either a premade 5.4-era group or targeted farming with a very rare chance.

6

The item binds on pickup; you can't transfer it from an alt to your main — enter with the character you actually need.

7

Once a week for one instance in Raid Finder: if no drop appears after five or six weeks, it's worth adding parallel farming of the normal-mode version — at max level the raid is soloable in minutes.
