Overview

Sinfall Gravewing

Game iconSinfall Gravewing is a flying mount added to World of Warcraft: Shadowlands alongside the "Chains of Domination" update (patch 9.1.0). It is a stone bat of the Venthyr Covenant from Revendreth — gothic stone wings, burning eyes and sharp fangs perfectly reflect the aesthetic of Sinfall, the capital of Prince Renathal's Venthyr rebellion.

The mount is a reward for reaching Renown level 45 with the Venthyr Covenant and belongs to the "gravewing" family. It shares its model with several related color variants: the Bronze, Obsidian, Pale and Masterwork Gravewings. The item description tells that, with the return of anima flow to Sinfall, the Stonewright endowed these stoneborn with new power, making them valuable allies in the battles to come.

Why You Want This Mount

  • A full flying mount — gains a +150%, +280% or +310% bonus to flight speed depending on your riding skill
  • A unique gothic model — the first of five gravewings you can collect; available only to players who have walked the Venthyr path
  • Tied to the Covenant campaign — obtaining the mount runs through the "Chains of Domination" storyline and expands the lore about Prince Renathal and the Court of Harvesters
  • Account-wide after 80 Renown — by default the mount is available only to characters in the Venthyr Covenant, but upon reaching Renown level 80 it is unlocked for all characters on the account
  • A gateway to the gravewing collection — the remaining color variants (the Obsidian at 70 Renown and others) are easier to farm after the first mount of the series

How to Obtain

The main path is to join the Venthyr Covenant and level Renown up to level 45.

  1. Reach max level and complete the Shadowlands introductory campaign. Newcomers have access to an accelerated onboarding via Oribos
  2. Head to Revendreth and complete the Venthyr Covenant introductory storyline. It ends with the joining ritual at Sinfall
  3. After joining, open the Covenant interface (default hotkey N) and track your Renown level
  4. Complete weekly quests, the campaign and callings — see the details in the "Renown Farming Optimization" section
  5. At Renown level 45 you will receive a notification and can claim the Sinfall Gravewing from the Stonewright at Sinfall

Requirements and Preparation

  • Character level 90 — formally the mount requires level 10, but it is sensible to clear all Shadowlands content at the maximum Midnight level so that the activities go quickly
  • Skilled flying rider — without this skill the mount will move like a ground mount
  • Joining the Venthyr Covenant — players who have already chosen another Covenant can switch through a conversation with an ally in Oribos. Rejoining the Venthyr restores previously earned Renown
  • Access to Sinfall — after joining you automatically receive the Sinfall hearthstone and the ability to teleport to the sanctum

How to Reach Sinfall

Sinfall is located in Pridefall Hamlet (western Revendreth), the central area of the zone. After joining the Covenant:

  1. Fly from Oribos through the Covenant stone portal located in the Ring of Transference
  2. At Sinfall you will find: the mission master, soul attendants, the callings board, the anima reservoir and the anima conductor — all sources of Renown are gathered in one hub

Renown Farming Optimization

Main Weekly Sources

In patch 9.1 and at 80 Renown, the following steady sources of Renown are active:

Source Amount of Renown Note
Replenish the Reservoir 1 per week Gathering anima in world activities
Shaping Fate 1 per week Activities in Korthia and the Maw
"Chains of Domination" campaign chapter 1 per chapter 9 chapters in total, unlocked weekly
Covenant callings 1 per task 3 callings per week, appearing at random
Shadowlands world bosses 1 per kill Reset weekly
First clear of Shadowlands raids 1 per raid Sepulcher of the First Ones, Castle Nathria, Sanctum of Domination

Accelerated Onboarding on Alts

If you already have a character at 80 Renown, it is recommended to use the Broker's Mark of Distinction:

  1. Buy the mark from Au'Dara, located next to the flight master in the Ring of Transference in Oribos
  2. The cost is 500 gold, and the item is account-bound
  3. Using it instantly raises the active Covenant's Renown on the alt to level 60 (in patch 9.2.5 the threshold was raised from 40 to 60)
  4. After applying it, you only need to gain the remaining levels through callings and weekly quests

Catch-Up Mechanic

If you have fallen behind the current Renown cap, the game increases the size of the rewards earned from the campaign, callings, raid bosses and world quests. This lets you quickly bring Renown above 45 and then continue farming up to 80 to unlock the mount account-wide.

Tips

1

Unlock the mount on your main — until Renown reaches 80, the mount will be unavailable to other characters. It makes sense to level the main on which you run the campaign, rather than an alt

2

Plan your path to 80 Renown — 45 grants the mount, 70 grants the inv_gargoylebrute2mount_darkObsidian Gravewing, 80 unlocks both mounts account-wide and the Renowned - Venthyr achievement

3

Don't skip callings — 3 tasks per week steadily grant +3 Renown and valuable Covenant resources

4

Use "Chains of Domination" — the patch 9.1 story campaign grants one Renown level per chapter and opens access to Korthia and daily activities

5

Farm in a group — Torghast Torments, world bosses and raid tasks in Revendreth, Maldraxxus and Ardenweald are completed faster in a group

6

Remember about switching Covenants — if you previously chose another Covenant, the Venthyr will take you back. Previously accumulated Renown is preserved, but active souls, soulbinds and covenant artifacts will switch to Venthyr ones

7

Check Covenant rewards at the anima conductor — some of the transmog, pets and other Covenant items unlock in parallel with Renown growth and require a separate purchase for anima
