Get Staff of the Sun

Staff of the Sun is a two-handed staff of blue quality that arrived in the game alongside the blood elf starting zone in The Burning Crusade expansion. It is a light staff head in warm golden-crimson tones with a sun disc motif — the recognizable aesthetic of Quel'Thalas and the Sunreavers, which is rarely echoed on weapons from later expansions.

For transmog collectors this is first and foremost an early reward staff: the model is clean and readable, with no overloaded effects, so it fits caster sets of any era. It can be worn by every class with staff proficiency, and for transmogrification you only need to obtain the item once on any character on the account.

Staff of the Sun is granted as one of the reward options for the quest "The Traitor's Destruction" in the Ghostlands — the blood elf starting zone.

• The objective is to kill Dar'Khan Drathir in the Scourge fortress of Deatholme in the southwest of the zone and bring his head to the magister.
• The reward is a choice between several items, so Staff of the Sun is obtained only by those who pick exactly it when completing the quest.
• The quest can be done once per character, but a single successful pickup of the item is enough for your appearance collection.
• Turning it in also grants significant reputation with the Tranquillien faction.

This is venerably old content of The Burning Crusade level, so the path to Deatholme is walked solo without any resistance — the staff's value today is purely cosmetic.
