Get Summer Wilderling Harness mount
Overview

Summer Wilderling Harness is an epic flying mount added to World of Warcraft in the Shadowlands expansion (patch 9.1 "Chains of Domination"). It is an emerald-green wilderling — a noble deer-wolf creature with branching antlers and shimmering foliage in its fur, one of the beasts of Ardenweald tamed by the Night Fae Covenant. The mount is part of a seasonal series of four variants: spring, summer, autumn and winter wilderlings, each with its own unique coloration.
The mount can be obtained only by players of the Night Fae Covenant. The source is the Wilderling Saddle quest, which begins with a rare starter item, the
Wilderling Saddle. This item drops with a small chance after defeating the Escaped Wilderling — a vignette at Hope's Ascension in the western part of Korthia.
Why You Want This Mount
- Unique visuals — the summer wilderling has a vivid emerald coloration with golden antlers, sharply distinct from the base Ardenweald variant. One of the most beautiful mounts in Shadowlands
- Full flying mount — speed +150%, +280% or +310% depending on your riding skill. On the ground +60% or +100%
- Prestige collectible — restricted to the Night Fae Covenant, making it a mark of belonging to the Wild Hunt
- Part of a seasonal series — together with the
Ardenweald Wilderling Harness and the autumn and winter variants, it forms a collection of five covenant wilderlings - Steady weekly chance — the event is available every week, provided it is correctly activated with the drum. Farming progress is predictable and does not depend on global timers
- Available for collection after switching covenants — once the mount is obtained, it stays in the character's collection, and after the release of TWW it unlocks account-wide through the warband system
How to Obtain
The main path is activating the Escaped Wilderling event in Korthia on a Night Fae character, farming the Wilderling Saddle and turning in the Wilderling Saddle quest to Reldorn.
- Join the Night Fae Covenant. The saddle drops only for members of this covenant — other factions will not see the event
- Travel to Korthia — the zone opened in patch 9.1 after completing the "Chains of Domination" story campaign
- Head to Hope's Ascension in the northwestern part of Korthia, coordinates approximately 33.2, 39.4. There you will find a Night Fae camp with the NPCs Carras, Alwyn and Twinkle
- Find the Enticing Drum near the camp and activate it. The drum summons the Escaped Wilderling — a unique vignette available only to Night Fae players
- Fight the Escaped Wilderling, reducing its health to 20%. After that, use the offered interaction to leap onto its back
- During the taming flight, press the "Hold On Tight" button on time: a perfect press gives +10% progress, a good one +5%. Three perfects in a row grant a bonus. The goal is to bring progress to 100%
- After a successful taming, the wilderling returns to the camp. With a small chance the Wilderling Saddle will land at your feet, starting the quest of the same name
- Travel to the Keeper's Respite and turn in the quest to Reldorn. As a reward you will receive the Summer Wilderling Harness
Requirements and Preparation
The Summer Wilderling Harness is Shadowlands content that remains fully accessible at TWW max level. However, your first visit to Korthia requires some basic preparation.
- Night Fae Covenant. Without joining the covenant in Ardenweald, the drum event will not trigger. If you are in a different covenant, switch through the NPC Lord Herne in Oribos.
- Access to Korthia. You must complete the patch 9.1 starter quest chain that opens the path through Oribos into Korthia. At max level the quests take 20–30 minutes
- Flying in Shadowlands. Technically the event can be completed without flying, but scouting the drum and running from the Night Fae camp is faster on a flying mount. In Midnight, the Shadowlands are open for flying right away
- Navigation tools. It is recommended to install the HandyNotes addon and a plugin for Korthia treasure points to see the drum spawn point
- Empty inventory. The Wilderling Saddle is a unique quest item. Leave 2–3 free slots so you do not miss the drop
How to Reach Korthia
Korthia is a separate subzone of the Shadowlands, introduced in patch 9.1. You can get there only after completing the opening chapter of the "Chains of Domination" campaign.
- Travel to Oribos — the capital of the Shadowlands. Fly through the portal in your covenant sanctum
- Speak with Bolvar Fordragon or the key campaign NPCs to pick up the quest to scout the new zone
- Follow the story chain from Oribos to the rift in the sky — this is the entry point into Korthia. The whole prologue takes 20–30 minutes
- After your first visit, a permanent teleport Passage to Korthia appears in Oribos, available from any max-level character
- Fly to Hope's Ascension (33.2, 39.4) and look for the Night Fae camp
Event Mechanics
- Approach the Enticing Drum at the camp. The interaction starts an animation: the NPC Twinkle announces: "I'll beat this drum so loud the Winter Queen herself will hear it in Ardenweald!"
- A green vignette marker appears on the map — the Escaped Wilderling approaches from the nearby hills
- The fight is standard: a level 61 creature that fights like a rare elite. At TWW max level it is taken down in 15–20 seconds
- At 20% health the "Mount Up" interaction appears. Press it to begin the taming phase
- During the flight phase, a prompt appears on screen every few seconds — press "Hold On Tight" at the right moment. The progress bar must reach 100% before the flight ends
- On failure the wilderling throws you off and the fight has to be started over. On success the vignette is counted, and the Wilderling Saddle may drop at your feet
Optimizing the Farm
Weekly Cycle
The starter item is a rare drop, and Blizzard has not published a definitive drop-rate statistic. By community observation the probability is around 5–10% per successfully completed event. The event is tied to a weekly mechanic, but the drum can be activated more often — the main thing is to wait for the Escaped Wilderling to appear in the world.
- Once a week the Escaped Wilderling is guaranteed to give progress on the Lore of the Soul Well quest — this is the indicator that the event has been completed
- After the weekly reset (Wednesday in Europe, Tuesday in the US) the lore resets, and the wilderling can be summoned again with a full roll on the saddle
- Even if the saddle does not drop, you receive anima items, a Locked Winged Skullbroker's Chest and 5% progress toward "Fated Form"
Multi-Farming on Alts
The best way to speed up getting the mount is to move several alts into the Night Fae.
- On each alt, complete the Korthia unlock chain
- Each character gets an independent chance at the saddle weekly
- If you have 3–4 Night Fae characters, your chances of getting the mount within a month rise sharply
Event Control
- Before activating the drum, make sure you are alone in the group or with other Night Fae. Players of other covenants can ruin the event
- If you hit the wilderling too fast, there is a risk of killing it before the taming phase — then the mount will not count. Control your DPS at 20% HP
- The "Hold On Tight" progress can be trained: the first attempts almost always end in a throw-off. After 2–3 runs the timing becomes intuitive
Tips
Make sure you are actually Night Fae — a common mistake: players try to activate the drum in another covenant and don't understand why the saddle isn't dropping. Check the covenant crest in the character menu
Don't overdo the damage — at Midnight max level the wilderling falls in seconds. Use auto-attack or weak abilities to gently bring it down to 20% HP
Train "Hold On Tight" — three perfects in a row give a solid bonus to progress. If you are unsure of the timing, press the button a little earlier than the icon appears
Keep an attempt log — after the weekly reset, note whether the event was completed and whether the saddle dropped. This helps gauge the real drop rate on your account
Don't skip the side rewards — even without the saddle you receive anima currency and points toward the Conquering Korthia achievement
Study the other wilderlings — after obtaining the summer variant, try to collect the whole series: the
Ardenweald one for reputation 45 with the Night Fae, the autumn one from Elwyn for 7,500 anima after reputation 70, the winter one from Duchess Mynx for 1,000 anima after "On the Offensive"
Community — if the event won't start for a while, check the general channel chat in Korthia: other Night Fae players will tell you whether the drum is active in the current phase

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
