Swift Moonsaber
Overview

Swift Moonsaber is a ground mount added to World of Warcraft in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion (patch 3.1.2). It is an elegant night saber with a shimmering hide that symbolizes Elune, the goddess of the moon. The mount is purchased at the Argent Tournament for 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold from Rook Hawkfist, the Darnassus quartermaster.
The Swift Moonsaber is available only to Alliance characters. To purchase it, you must be a night elf or hold the title Champion of Darnassus, earned through the Argent Tournament quest chain. When you learn the mount on an Alliance character, every Horde character on your account automatically gains the
White Skeletal Warhorse — its faction counterpart.
Why You Want This Mount
- Low cost — just 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold. It is one of the cheapest Argent Tournament mounts, which you can buy literally on the first day you earn the Champion title
- Guaranteed acquisition — no random drop. You save up Seals, visit the vendor, and claim the mount. A matter of a few days
- Unique saber model — the shimmering purple-and-silver coloring sets this moonsaber apart from the standard night elf racial mounts
- Bonus mount for the Horde — when you learn it, you automatically receive the White Skeletal Warhorse on all your Horde characters. Effectively two mounts for the price of one
- Account-wide — once purchased, the mount appears in the collection of all your Alliance characters
- Parallel farming — while you save up Seals at the Argent Tournament, the same vendor offers other Darnassus mounts, and the grounds sell mounts from every Alliance racial faction as well as neutral rewards
How to Reach the Argent Tournament
The Argent Tournament grounds are located in the northeast of Icecrown in Northrend.
- Travel to Dalaran in Northrend. The portal to old Dalaran can be found in the Chamber of the Guardian in current Dalaran or through portal mages in your faction's capital
- From Dalaran, fly on your own mount to the northeast of Icecrown. The tournament grounds are easy to spot — it is a large camp with tents and rings
- At the grounds, find the Silver Covenant tent — that is where the Alliance racial quartermasters are located
How to Obtain
Obtaining the mount requires completing the Argent Tournament quest chain and accumulating Champion's Seals. The entire journey from your first visit to the purchase takes about 8–13 days.
Stage 1: Aspirant (3 days)
- Arrive at the Argent Tournament grounds and speak with the night elf representative
- Accept the introductory quests — you will receive the rank of Aspirant
- Complete the daily Aspirant quests and collect Aspirant's Seals
- Accumulate 15 Aspirant's Seals and take the quest to joust for the rank of Valiant
Stage 2: Valiant (5 days)
- Win the joust and earn the rank of Valiant
- Complete the daily Valiant quests — 4 quests per day, each rewarding a Valiant's Seal
- Accumulate 25 Valiant's Seals
- Take the quest to joust for the rank of Champion of Darnassus
Stage 3: Champion
- Win the final joust — you become the Champion of Darnassus
- The daily Champion quests open up, rewarding Champion's Seals
- Each day you can earn between 6 and 14 Seals depending on how many factions you have unlocked
- An additional 3 Seals come from clearing the Trial of the Champion dungeon on heroic difficulty
- Once you have gathered 5 Champion's Seals and 500 gold, head to Rook Hawkfist in the Silver Covenant tent and buy the
Swift Moonsaber
How Long the Farm Takes
| Stage | Duration |
|---|---|
| Aspirant → Valiant | 3 days |
| Valiant → Champion | 5 days |
| Gathering 5 Champion's Seals | 1 day |
| Total | about 9 days |
The Swift Moonsaber is one of the fastest Argent Tournament mounts to obtain. You only need 5 Champion's Seals, which you will earn on the very first day after gaining the Champion title. Most of the time is spent completing the quest chain from Aspirant to Champion.
Farming Optimization
Daily Routine
At max level (90 in Midnight), all Argent Tournament quests are completed in 15–20 minutes. Enemies die instantly, and the jousting quests are resolved in seconds.
- Take all available quests from the faction representatives in the tents
- Complete the kill and gather quests — at level 90 this takes minutes
- Run the jousts — at max level it is enough to attack your opponent without worrying about the shield and lance mechanics
- Turn in the quests and choose the Champion's Purse instead of the writ — the purse guarantees gold and an extra Champion's Seal
Trial of the Champion Dungeon
The Trial of the Champion on heroic difficulty rewards 3 Champion's Seals per clear. At level 80 the dungeon can be soloed in 3–5 minutes. If you want to save up Seals for several mounts, this is a good daily bonus.
Planning Your Purchases
Since the Swift Moonsaber costs only 5 Seals, it makes sense to plan the purchase of several tournament mounts in one trip. Rook Hawkfist also sells other Darnassus mounts, and the grounds offer mounts from every Alliance racial faction. Save up Seals and buy them one by one.
Tips
Night elves save time — if your character is a night elf, you do not need the Champion of Darnassus title to purchase the mount. Just accumulate 5 Seals by any means and visit the quartermaster
Two mounts in one purchase — remember that when you learn the Swift Moonsaber, all your Horde characters receive the White Skeletal Warhorse. This also works in reverse: if you have a Horde character with the skeletal horse, check your collection on the Alliance
Choose the purse when turning in quests — when completing Champion quests, take the pouch of gold. It contains an extra Seal with a certain chance, which speeds up accumulation
Outdated content — the Argent Tournament belongs to the Wrath of the Lich King expansion (2008). On a level 80 character, all quests, jousts, and the Trial of the Champion dungeon are cleared with ease
Tournament mount collection — more than ten different mounts are sold at the Argent Tournament grounds, including the Silver Covenant Hippogryph and the racial mounts of each faction. Plan your purchase order if you are assembling the full collection
