Swift Olive Raptor
Overview

Swift Olive Raptor is an epic Horde ground mount, one of the six racial raptors of the Darkspear trolls. It looks like a large olive-green raptor with dark purple armor and a distinctive crest. The mount was added back in patch 1.4 of the classic version of the game, so by 2026 it is considered one of the oldest and most visually recognizable troll mounts.
The raptor is sold by a single vendor — Zjolnir in Sen'jin Village in Durotar. Trolls can buy it immediately, while all other Horde races must first earn Exalted standing with the Darkspear Trolls faction. Once obtained, the mount unlocks account-wide and is available to any Horde character.
Why you want this mount
- Collector's value — one of the six colored raptors from Zjolnir. If you're going for Exalted just for the mount, it makes sense to buy all six at once and complete the troll collection fully
- Unique olive coloring — this model differs from the standard green and emerald raptors with a rich olive shade and purple harness, clearly visible in screenshots and combat
- 100% speed — like all epic raptors, the mount grants +60% or +100% movement speed depending on your riding skill, meaning it travels at the maximum ground-transport speed
- Available account-wide — once purchased, the mount appears in the collection of all characters on your account on the Horde side, including future alts
- Cheap for an epic — it costs only 10 gold, making it one of the most affordable epic mounts in the game. The main "price" is not gold but reputation
- Troll lore — according to the item description, raptors are longtime allies of the trolls, becoming for their riders "a mount, a guardian, and a friend all at once"
Requirements and prerequisites
- Faction — Horde only. The mount is fundamentally unavailable to the Alliance
- Level — 10. At max level this condition is met automatically
- Riding skill — "Apprentice Riding". Learned from any riding trainer starting at level 10
- Reputation — Exalted with the Darkspear Trolls. This condition is not required only for characters of the troll race: Zjolnir sells them raptors starting from Friendly standing
- Gold — 10 gold. By level 80 this is a symbolic amount
How to get the mount: step-by-step plan
- Create or take a ready-made Horde character. If it's not a troll — prepare for reputation farming
- Fly to Orgrimmar and head to Durotar. From the city's main gate you can run on foot or fly by mount to the southeast to Sen'jin Village
- If you play a troll — go straight to Zjolnir and buy the
Swift Olive Raptor for 10 gold - If you play another Horde race — first grind Exalted with the Darkspear Trolls (see the next section)
- After reaching Exalted, return to Zjolnir in Sen'jin and buy the mount. It will be automatically added to your account-wide collection
Where to find Zjolnir
Zjolnir stands next to the raptor pen on the southern outskirts of Sen'jin Village in Durotar. This is a small troll settlement southeast of Orgrimmar, right by the sea shore.
The fastest way to get there:
- Teleport to Orgrimmar by any convenient means
- Exit the city through the southern gate into Durotar
- Move southeast along the coast. Sen'jin Village is located roughly in the middle of the eastern edge of Durotar
- Inside the village, look for the palisade-fenced raptor pen in the southern part — Zjolnir stands right next to it
Farming reputation with the Darkspear Trolls
For non-trolls this is the main barrier. The starting reputation for all other Horde races is Neutral, and you need to gather 42,000 points to reach Exalted. There are several ways to do this.
Method 1. Darkspear Tabard (the fastest)
This is the most efficient method at max level.
- Fly to Orgrimmar and head to the Valley of Honor district
- Find Champion Uru'zin and get the
Darkspear Tabard from him - Put on the tabard and head to any outdated dungeon on max or lower difficulty. While you wear the tabard, all mobs killed in dungeons grant reputation with the Darkspear Trolls
- The optimal choice is The Botanica in Outland. It has a dense mob layout, a short route, and the ability to quickly reset and repeat the instance
- Clear the dungeon, exit through the portal after the final boss, reset the instance with the /reset all command (or via the menu) and repeat
The total time to Exalted is about 1–2 hours depending on class and clearing speed.
Method 2. Quests in the troll starting zones
Any quests in the Valley of Trials, Sen'jin, Razor Hill, and the Echo Isles grant noticeable reputation with the Darkspear Trolls. At max level mobs die in one hit, so you can clear all available quest chains in a few hours. This method is slower than the tabard but doesn't require dungeons and goes well alongside farming old achievements in Durotar.
Method 3. Turning in Runecloth
After you first turn in Runecloth to the collector in Orgrimmar, a repeatable task opens for 60 units of cloth per reputation batch. The method is reliable but expensive — cloth makes sense as a top-up after the tabard or quests, not as the main method
Method 4. Sen'jin papers from the Firelands
In the Firelands from Cataclysm you can collect Sen'jin Thanks Notes and turn them in at Orgrimmar. An option for those who are also farming other rewards there
Additional mounts from the same vendor
Since you've already come to Zjolnir for the
Swift Olive Raptor, it makes sense to grab all the other racial raptors from him in one go. They all require Exalted with the Darkspear Trolls (except for trolls) and cost the same.
Tips and tricks
- Close everything in one visit — after reaching Exalted, buy all six raptors from Zjolnir at once. Riding back to him for the remaining colors is pointless — the reputation is already earned and the gold is minimal
- Start with a troll if you're only planning Horde — if you don't have a Horde character yet and you're making a new one for these mounts, choose the troll race. This saves you from reputation farming and unlocks the purchase right from Friendly standing
- Take off the tabard after Exalted — as soon as you reach Exalted, the tabard stops earning reputation. Take it off and use the regular transmog slot for any other cloak
- Farming speed depends on class — The Botanica is cleared fastest by paladins and demon hunters thanks to high mass mobility and area damage. On these classes, reaching Exalted within an hour is quite realistic
- The mount is not a transmog — unlike armor, a mount's appearance cannot be replaced, so the olive shade is the final look. If you don't like the coloring, it's worth checking the other options from Zjolnir before farming reputation
