Get The Maelstrom's Fury

The Maelstrom's Fury is an epic-quality one-handed dagger from the Black Temple raid. It is an item variant added in the Legion expansion during the Black Temple Timewalking window: it reuses the model of the original dagger from The Burning Crusade era and keeps the same appearance in the transmogrification collection.

The dagger is rendered in a cold blue palette: the curved blade resembles a spike carved from naga shell, and a glowing amber orb is set into the slot at its base — that warm accent is exactly what makes the appearance recognizable among other "elemental" dagger models. The silhouette directly evokes the theme of water and storm set by the source itself — High Warlord Naj'entus.

In terms of stats it is an Intellect item: it carries +11 Intellect, +3 Stamina, and 2 each to critical strike rating and haste. In combat such stats suit mages, druids, priests, shamans, warlocks and summoners, but today the dagger is collected almost exclusively for the look — the item's combat numbers have long been irrelevant.

The Maelstrom's Fury drops from High Warlord Naj'entus — the first boss of the Black Temple raid, located in the Shadowmoon Valley in Outland. The boss greets the group right at the raid entrance, at the coordinates /way Shadowmoon Valley 43.9 18.7.

• Difficulty: the raid runs on standard difficulty; there is no "mythic" or "legendary" variant for this item.
• The drop chance for the Black Temple Timewalking variant is around 0.05% per kill, according to Wowhead. Farming requires many repeat runs.
• Alongside the same boss, the original version of the dagger from The Burning Crusade era still drops — The Maelstrom's Fury. The model and name of both versions are identical, so for the transmogrification collection it is enough to obtain either one. The drop chance of the original version is around 14.8%, which makes it far more accessible.
• Attempt limit: Naj'entus can be killed once per week per character, and the limit resets together with the weekly raid lockout.
• Today the Black Temple is easily soloed at max Midnight level — bosses die in seconds, and Naj'entus's spike mechanic does not have time to trigger.

The Maelstrom's Fury has no color recolors with separate item identifiers — the appearance is unique. At the same time the model itself is available in two versions with the same name, and another weapon of similar styling drops from the same boss.

If you specifically want a short blade in blue tones — farm either of the two versions of The Maelstrom's Fury: their appearance is identical, and the original version 32237 drops noticeably more often. Rising Tide and Halberd of Desolation come in handy if you want to assemble a one-handed and a two-handed weapon in the same nautical palette from a single boss.
