Reins of the Thundering Jade Cloud Serpent

Reins of the Thundering Jade Cloud Serpent is an epic flying mount added in patch 5.5.0 of the Mists of Pandaria expansion. It is a majestic jade-colored cloud serpent shrouded in crackling storm discharges. The mount is purchased from a guild vendor for 3,000 gold once your guild earns the Guild Glory of the Pandaria Raider achievement.

"From their earliest days, thundering cloud serpents are drawn to storms. They are known to chase lightning amid black, churning clouds and to bathe in the pouring rain."

The Thundering Jade Cloud Serpent is one of the most striking mounts in the cloud serpent family. Its model features stormy electrical effects that set it apart from the ordinary jade, azure, and golden variants. Mists of Pandaria content is outdated, so in The War Within (Season 2, patch 11.1) at level 80, all the required raids are cleared in a matter of minutes.

• Guaranteed acquisition — unlike mounts with a percentage drop chance, the Thundering Jade Cloud Serpent is purchased from a vendor. Once your guild completes the achievement and you save up the gold, the mount is yours.
• Unique model with storm effects — among the many cloud serpents, the thundering versions stand out with effects of lightning and electrical discharges wreathing the serpent's body.
• Low cost — only 3,000 gold, which is trivial by The War Within standards. The main investment is the time spent completing the guild achievement.
• Available to all characters — after purchase, the mount becomes available on every character on your account.
• A guild trophy — the mount serves as a symbol of the guild's shared raiding successes in Pandaria, adding collectible value.
• Ground and flying — the mount works both on the ground and in the air. Its speed depends on your riding skill: up to +100% on the ground and up to +310% in flight.

To purchase the mount, three conditions must be met:

1. Guild achievement — your guild must earn the Guild Glory of the Pandaria Raider achievement
2. Guild reputation — you need Exalted reputation with your guild
3. Gold — 3,000 gold to buy the mount from the guild vendor

Important: you do not have to personally participate in the raids to earn the achievement. It is enough to be a member of a guild that has already completed it and to have Exalted reputation.

1. Join a guild that already has the "Guild Glory of the Pandaria Raider" achievement, or organize completing the achievement with your current guild
2. Raise your guild reputation to Exalted if it hasn't been reached yet
3. Find a guild vendor in any capital city of your faction
4. Purchase the Reins of the Thundering Jade Cloud Serpent for 3,000 gold
5. Use the item to learn the mount

The Guild Glory of the Pandaria Raider achievement requires defeating the three final bosses of the Mists of Pandaria heroic raids as part of a guild group. In a 10-player group, at least 8 must be from your guild; in a 25-player group, at least 20.

Required Bosses

1. Will of the Emperor (Heroic mode) — the final boss of the Mogu'shan Vaults raid. The raid is located in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Pandaria
2. Grand Empress Shek'zeer (Heroic mode) — the final boss of the Heart of Fear raid. The raid is located in the Dread Wastes, Pandaria.
3. Sha of Fear (Heroic mode) — the final boss of the Terrace of Endless Spring raid. The raid is located in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, Pandaria.

How to Clear It in 2026

At level 80 in The War Within, all three raids are outdated content and are cleared trivially:

1. Gather a group of at least 8 guildmates (for 10-man) or 20 (for 25-man). The remaining participants can be from other guilds
2. Set the Heroic difficulty before entering each raid (right-click your portrait → Dungeon Difficulty → Heroic (10) or Heroic (25))
3. Enter the Mogu'shan Vaults and clear the raid up to Will of the Emperor. Kill the boss
4. Enter the Heart of Fear and clear the raid up to Grand Empress Shek'zeer. Kill the boss
5. Enter the Terrace of Endless Spring and kill the Sha of Fear
6. After killing all three bosses, the guild earns the achievement

All the bosses die in seconds from one or two hits by a level 80 character. The only challenge is gathering at least 8 guildmates at the same time. Participants don't have to fight — being inside the raid is enough.

After earning the achievement, the mount can be purchased from any guild vendor. Here is the list:

Purchasing the mount requires Exalted reputation with your guild. Reputation is gained automatically when completing any activities on behalf of the guild:

• Quests — completing any quests grants guild reputation
• Dungeons and raids — clearing content as part of a guild group
• PvP — participating in battlegrounds and arenas with guildmates
• Professions — crafting items from high-level recipes

If you actively play in a guild, Exalted is reached naturally over the course of a few weeks. To speed things up, wear your guild tabard and take an active part in guild events.
