Underlight Shorestalker
Overview

Underlight Shorestalker is a flying mount shaped like a fanciful turquoise deep-sea fish with a glowing lure-stalk on its head. The mount was added to World of Warcraft in patch 10.2.7 "Dark Heart" (released on May 7, 2024) and is distributed through the Trading Post system. It costs 800 Trader's Tender, the in-game currency of the Trading Post.
The mount model belongs to the "deep-sea fish" family of Awuna's Dark Heart and shares its appearance with three related mounts in different color schemes:
Kah, Legend of the Deep, the Crimson Deep-Sea Fish, and the Deep-Sea Colossus. The Shorestalker is the most "serene" of this quartet and stands out with its cool green-blue palette and the bioluminescent glow of its fins.
Why you want this mount
- A unique anglerfish model — there are few deep-sea fish mounts in the World of Warcraft collection, and the Underlight Shorestalker is one of the most detailed members of the family.
- A full-fledged flying mount — despite its "aquatic" design, the summon spell
Underlight Shorestalker grants a standard flying mount at the flight speed of your riding skill. - Account-bound — once purchased by one character, the mount appears in the collection of all your characters, regardless of faction and server.
- A relatively affordable price — 800 Trader's Tender can be earned in exactly one month of active play, without needing to save the currency between seasons.
- A low barrier to entry — using it requires only level 45 and the Apprentice Riding skill, so the mount is available to almost any character right after purchase.
- Part of a themed collection — by collecting all four color variants of the fish (the Shorestalker,
Kah, the Crimson, and the Colossus), you complete the full set of deep-sea mounts from patch 10.2.7.
How to obtain
The only way to add the Underlight Shorestalker to your collection is to purchase it at the Trading Post during a month when the mount is included in the lineup. The steps are as follows:
- Wait for the start of a calendar month in which the mount is in the Trading Post rotation. Blizzard publishes the list of goods on the first game day of the month — keep an eye on announcements at wowhead.com or through the in-game interface.
- Approach the Trading Post: for the Alliance it is located in Stormwind by the fountain of the Lion's Pride district, and for the Horde it is in Orgrimmar at the Hall of Honor market.
- Open the Trading Post interface via the Traveling Merchant's chest icon on the city map.
- Go to the "Mounts" tab and find the Underlight Shorestalker among the available offers.
- Make sure you have at least 800 Trader's Tender, and confirm the purchase.
- After buying, use the item from your bag — the mount skill
Underlight Shorestalker will be added to the mount journal of your entire account.
Trader's Tender — the currency of the Trading Post
To buy the mount you need the main currency of the system — Trader's Tender. This currency is shared across your entire account: everything you earn on one character is available to the rest.
| Source | Amount per month | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Traveling Merchant's chest | 500 | Open the chest next to the Trading Post at the start of the month |
| Traveler's Log | 500 | Complete the monthly tasks to fully fill the progress bar |
| Bonus for completing the log | additional reward item | Fully completing the journey unlocks the monthly bonus |
| Sparks of Life and seasonal rewards | variable | Random rewards for activities |
In the end, with minimal activity you receive up to 1,000 Trader's Tender each month, which is more than enough to buy a single mount costing 800 tender with a surplus for additional items.
How to earn 800 tender in a month
The Traveler's Log refreshes on the first of each month and contains about 15–20 tasks of varying difficulty. To reliably earn the 500 tender from the log, follow these steps.
- On the first game day of the month, go to the Trading Post and collect 500 Trader's Tender from the Traveling Merchant's chest — this is the base monthly reward.
- Open the Traveler's Log (the scroll icon next to the minimap or via the achievements panel).
- Study the list of tasks. Among them you will usually find simple goals: killing a certain number of mobs, gathering profession resources, completing a dungeon or an errand.
- Focus on the 5–7 tasks that are easiest for your class and spec — that is enough to fill the progress bar.
- After filling the bar, you receive another 500 tender and a seasonal bonus item.
- If there are still days left before you can buy the mount, check the Trading Post calendar at the start of each month so you don't miss the right window.
Useful Traveler's Log tasks
- Profession tasks — completed in parallel with regular leveling.
- PvP tasks — even a single battleground a week clears the corresponding goal.
- Dungeon and errand tasks — use the group finder to close out weekly goals faster.
- Pet and mount tasks — simple activities that require no preparation.
When the mount is available at the Trading Post
Underlight Shorestalker was added to the game in patch 10.2.7 and has since appeared at the Trading Post several times as part of the monthly rotations. Blizzard does not publish the schedule in advance, so there is no reliable way to predict a specific month.
- Follow the news at wowhead.com — the Trading Post schedule is published on the first of each game month, usually with a detailed description of all the items
- Open the Trading Post interface at the start of the month — on the first day of the update you will see the full list of goods for the next 30 days
- Don't spend your tender ahead of time — if the mount isn't available this month, save up 800+ Trader's Tender and keep them in reserve
- Remember the wallet limit — the Traveler's Log has no cap on accumulation, so the currency does not expire between months
In the experience of collectors, mounts of the deep-sea fish family usually appear in the rotation at least once every six months. If the Underlight Shorestalker is unavailable this month, buying it is only a matter of time.
Tips
Don't skip the Traveling Merchant's chest — even if you don't plan to spend tender this month, be sure to collect the 500 base Trader's Tender on the first. They accumulate and will come in handy for future purchases.
Fill the log on a single character — since the currency is shared, there's no point in grinding on several alts. Choose your main with the best gear and complete the tasks through them.
Use the mount underwater — despite being classified as flying, the
Underlight Shorestalker fits perfectly into the underwater zones of Khaz Algar, Nazjatar, and the Dark Below.
Collect the whole deep-sea fish set — alongside buying the Shorestalker, farm
Kah, Legend of the Deep via the Derby Dash in Mereldar. That way you'll get two mounts of the family in a single expansion.
Don't try to buy it through third-party services — the mount is not transferable between accounts, so the only honest way to obtain it is a personal purchase at the Trading Post.
