Unrelenting Blade — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Unrelenting Blade is a rare-quality one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is a short blade with a straight edge and a smooth metal hilt without any ornate decorations — a stern, utilitarian silhouette that fits the look of mercenaries, rogues and hunters well.
The dagger is available to any class that can wield daggers: rogues, druids, shamans, mages, warlocks, priests, warriors and demon hunters. As a transmog it is prized precisely for its understated shape — no glow, runes or magical effects, which makes it a versatile base for "ordinary" thief and combat sets.
In terms of popularity among transmog collectors, the item ranks roughly 35th in its dagger category — a solid mid-tier result for a model from a Northrend-era dungeon.
Source
Unrelenting Blade drops from regular enemies (not bosses) in the Halls of Stone dungeon, located in the north of The Storm Peaks in Northrend.
The specific source mobs are members of the Dark Rune clan:
Key source parameters:
- Difficulty. The dagger drops on both normal and heroic dungeon difficulty — the mode does not matter.
- Drop chance. Roughly 2% from each suitable enemy. This is trash-mob loot, so in a single run you kill them by the dozen.
- Group or solo. At max level the dungeon is cleared solo with ease — no group needed.
- Attempt limit. There are no restrictions: you can re-enter the dungeon as many times in a row as you like, resetting the instance.
The dungeon entrance sits on a large cliff in the northern part of The Storm Peaks, next to the titan city of Ulduar. The nearest flight point is the neutral point in Ulduar.
Who it suits visually
- Suits "leather" thief sets in dark and grey-steel tones — the model does not draw attention to itself and works as the character's working tool.
- Harmonizes with plate and mail sets without bright glow: the stern metal of the blade echoes matte armor.
- A good choice for dual-wielding two daggers of the same model — identical blades in both hands look neat on rogues.
- Contrasts with magical staves and enchanted weapons — a debatable but deliberate choice for a "down-to-earth" fighter without magic.
- Fitting for mercenary, scout and hunter themes, where functionality matters more than ornamentation.
Tips
Farm at max character level: at level 90 and above the Halls of Stone are cleared solo in a few minutes.
The dagger drops from regular mobs, not bosses — don't rush to the bosses, methodically wipe out groups of Dark Rune clan enemies along the way.
After killing all the needed mobs, leave the dungeon and reset the instance through the group menu — this way you repeat the run without waiting.
The same enemies drop other items of the same level, for example
Rune Giant Bindings — useful for armor collectors.
Keep the daily dungeon entry limit in mind: there's a capped number of runs you can do per day, so spread the farm across several days.
For speed, take a class with high mobility and strong area damage — a druid, demon hunter or mage clears the halls fastest.
If you only need the appearance and not the item in your bags, remember: the appearance collection is account-bound, and obtaining the dagger once on any character is enough.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
