Vengeance — Transmog Set Guide

Vengeance is an epic one-handed dagger added to World of Warcraft with the Cataclysm expansion in patch 4.3. It is the first tier of the famous rogue legendary chain known as "Fangs of the Father": the "Jaws of Retribution" set consists of two blades — Vengeance and its paired blade Fear.

The dagger's model is styled after the final Cataclysm raid. The blade has a distinctive curved silhouette with a smoldering crimson glow along the edge and a dark hilt — a visual language that evokes Deathwing and his corruption. All three tiers of the chain use the same base model but with different colored highlights, so "Vengeance" reads as the "starter," more restrained version of the legendary blade.

For transmogrification this is a valuable find: the dagger is not directly available to new characters — its model is tied to a long-outdated legendary chain, and encountering this appearance on another player is almost impossible.

"Vengeance" is a reward for a rogue quest rather than a direct drop. The dagger can only be obtained during the legendary chain "Fangs of the Father."

• The chain is available exclusively to the rogue class.
• The dagger is granted by the quest The Deed is Done — the seventh step of the chain. The quest is turned in to Wrathion at Ravenholdt Manor in the Hillsbrad Foothills.
• Along with "Vengeance," the same quest grants the paired blade "Fear" — both belong to the "Jaws of Retribution" set.
• Further steps of the chain require the Dragon Soul raid: you need to pick the pockets of Hagara the Stormbinder — the raid's fourth boss, gather special gems from bosses, and obtain a fragment of Deathwing's jaw after the fight with him.
• The raid tasks of the chain cannot be completed through the Raid Finder — only normal and heroic modes for 10 and 25 players will do.

In the current game, the entire Dragon Soul raid can be soloed by almost any level 90 character, so farming the chain itself no longer poses any combat difficulty — most of the time goes into collecting items and waiting through the chain's stages.
