inv_dragonhawkmountshadowlandsVengeance's Reins — a rare flying dracondor mount in a dark color scheme that drops from Sylvanas Windrunner, the final boss of the Sanctum of Domination raid exclusively on Mythic difficulty. The mount was added in patch 9.1.0 of the Shadowlands expansion and was originally a guaranteed reward for participants of the first Mythic kills. After Dragonflight launched, the drop chance was reduced to approximately 1%.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Prestige — Vengeance remains one of the most recognizable raid mounts from the Shadowlands era. During current content, only participants in top-level Mythic raids could obtain it
  • Appearance — a unique dark dracondor model with individually detailed feathers and a shadow aura. The mount has a special animation when using the /mountspecial command
  • Theme — pairs perfectly with Dark Ranger transmog and Sylvanas-themed sets
  • Collection value — with a drop chance of around 1% and the requirement of completing a Mythic raid, the mount remains one of the rarest among raid rewards

How to Obtain

  1. Travel to the Sanctum of Domination in The Maw (Shadowlands)
  2. Set the raid difficulty to Mythic
  3. Clear the entire raid up to the final boss — Sylvanas Windrunner
  4. Defeat Sylvanas and check the loot
  5. If the mount didn't drop — try again next week. The Mythic raid resets every Tuesday

The mount is only available on Mythic difficulty. It does not drop on Normal, Heroic, or in Raid Finder.

How to Get to the Sanctum of Domination

The Sanctum of Domination is located in The Maw, a Shadowlands zone. The raid entrance is in Helgarde Keep in the Desmotaeron area.

Route to the Raid

  1. Get to Oribos — from Stormwind or Orgrimmar, speak to Highlord Mograine and accept the quest "Shadowlands: The Chilling Call," or use the portal to Oribos if it is already open
  2. Reach Korthia — from Oribos, use the portal to Korthia (northwest part of the Ring of Transference). To unlock the portal, you must complete the initial quests of the "Chains of Domination" campaign (Chapter 2)
  3. Enter The Maw — from Korthia, head south into The Maw
  4. Reach the entrance — travel through the Beastwarrens to Desmotaeron and Helgarde Keep

Coordinates

/way The Maw 70.0 32.0 Sanctum of Domination (entrance)

Quick Route (Recommended)

Instead of fighting elite enemies on the way through Desmotaeron, use the following method:

  1. Fly to coordinates /way The Maw 58.1 62.5
  2. Climb the rock ledge
  3. Use a inv_misc_bag_07_redGoblin Glider Kit to glide directly to the raid entrance

The glider costs a few gold on the Auction House and allows you to completely bypass all groups of elite enemies.

Alternative Options

  • Druid or Rogue — use stealth to pass by elite enemies without fighting
  • Tanks — equip inv_tailoring_70_saddleblanketComfortable Rider's Barding so enemies cannot dismount you

Prerequisites

To access The Maw and Korthia, you must complete the initial quests of the Shadowlands campaign. On alternate characters, you can skip the introductory scenario (choose "I've heard this story before" when talking to the NPC in The Maw).

Raid Bosses

The Sanctum of Domination contains 10 bosses. To reach Sylvanas, you must defeat all of them:

Raid Skip

After killing Kel'Thuzad (9th boss) four times on Mythic difficulty, you will receive the quest Sanctum of Domination — Damned If You Don't, which unlocks a direct passage to Kel'Thuzad. This allows you to skip the first 8 bosses and significantly reduce farming time in subsequent weeks.

Completing the quest on Mythic also unlocks the skip on Normal and Heroic difficulties. As of patch 11.0.5, raid skips are shared across all characters in your Warband.

Solo Mythic Walkthrough

As of patch 11.0.5, the Sanctum of Domination on Mythic difficulty is available for solo play at level 80. Most bosses die within seconds, but the Sylvanas fight requires knowledge of its mechanics.

Tips for the Sylvanas Fight (Mythic, Solo)

The Sylvanas fight consists of three phases. The fight ends when Sylvanas's health drops to 50%.

Phase 1 (100%–83%) — takes place in the main hall. At level 80, you will push Sylvanas's health to the transition in a few seconds. Dodge the arrows on the floor.

Phase 2 (Intermission) — Sylvanas creates a bridge of chains that you must traverse while killing adds. At level 80, the adds pose no threat; simply move along the bridge to the end.

Phase 3 (83%–50%, Oribos) — the most dangerous phase when soloing. The fight takes place across multiple platforms. The key mechanic is the ability Raze: when Sylvanas begins casting, you must move to a different platform before the cast finishes. The platform Sylvanas was on will be destroyed.

  • Before Raze, move to one of the lit platforms
  • Use powerful defensive cooldowns if you cannot make it in time
  • Classes with immunities (Paladin, Mage, Hunter) have an advantage
  • Use ability_bossmagistrix_timewarp1Drums of Deathly Ferocity or the Bloodlust racial ability to speed up the phase

Recommended Classes

  • Paladin — Divine Shield lets you survive Raze, high survivability
  • Demon Hunter — high mobility for moving between platforms
  • Druid — travel forms, self-healing, battle resurrection
  • Hunter — Aspect of the Turtle for immunity to Raze, pet helps with survival

Farming Optimization

Time Estimate

A full solo clear of the Sanctum of Domination on Mythic takes approximately 20–30 minutes. With the raid skip unlocked (after 4 Kel'Thuzad kills), the time is reduced to 10–15 minutes since you skip the first 8 bosses.

Farming on Multiple Characters

Since the lockout is 1 attempt per week per character, using alts significantly increases your chances:

Characters per week Attempts per month Chance of getting it per month
1 4 ~4%
5 20 ~18%
10 40 ~33%
15 60 ~45%

Each alt must:

  • Be level 80 with sufficient gear to solo Mythic
  • Have completed the initial Shadowlands quests for access to The Maw
  • Ideally have the raid skip unlocked

Collector's Bounty Event

During the annual Collector's Bounty event, the drop chance for mounts from legacy raids is increased by 5%. For a mount with a base drop chance of 1%, this raises it to 6% — a substantial difference. Plan your main farming around this event.

Tips

  • Unlock the raid skip first — spend 4 weeks killing Kel'Thuzad on Mythic to unlock the direct passage. This saves 10–15 minutes on every subsequent run
  • Stock up on gliders in advance — buy a stack of inv_misc_bag_07_redGoblin Glider Kits from the Auction House for quick access to the raid entrance
  • Learn the Raze mechanic — when soloing, this is the only ability that can kill you. Watch the cast bar and move to a lit platform
  • Combine with other mounts — the Sanctum of Domination also drops ability_mount_mawhorsespikes_purpleSanctum Gloomcharger's Reins from The Nine on any difficulty (approximately 1% chance). You can farm both mounts in a single run
  • Watch the calendar — the Collector's Bounty event usually runs in July. Prepare as many characters as possible for this period
  • Use the Saved Instances addon — an addon for tracking raid lockouts on all characters so you never miss your weekly attempts
