Vinebound Shank — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Vinebound Shank is a one-handed dagger of uncommon quality, added to World of Warcraft with the Midnight expansion. It is a short blade entwined with living vines: the hilt sprouts green shoots, and the edge shimmers with the hues of young foliage. The whole model is built on the natural aesthetic of Harandar — a bioluminescent fungal forest where the roots of the world trees converge.
In terms of stats, this is a leveling weapon: item level 23, requiring character level 80. The dagger becomes soulbound on pickup and suits specializations that use light blades — first and foremost rogues. The item's main value today lies not in its stats but in its appearance: the "vinebound" model looks excellent in sets with a botanical and druidic theme.
Source
The Vinebound Shank drops in the The Blinding Vale dungeon, located in the Harandar zone. This is a story dungeon of the Midnight expansion for levels 80–90.
- The dagger drops from regular enemies and bosses of the dungeon during the story run, as well as on Heroic and Mythic difficulties.
- The entrance to The Blinding Vale is in the southwest of Harandar, coordinates
/way 26.8 78.0. - The dungeon unlocks at level 88 or after completing the Harandar quest chain.
- The item becomes soulbound on pickup, so it cannot be passed to another character — you need to farm it on whoever wants the appearance.
- There is no limit on the number of attempts: the dungeon can be rerun as many times as you like until the dagger drops.
Like most leveling weapons, the Vinebound Shank has no fixed guaranteed source — it is a random drop from the dungeon's general loot. To unlock the appearance, you just need to obtain the item once and place it in your appearance collection.
Who it suits visually
- It fits sets with a natural and forest theme — especially appearances in green and woody tones from Harandar content.
- It harmonizes with druidic sets: the vine on the hilt echoes the motifs of foliage and shoots in druid armor.
- It looks great paired with a second shank of the same kind or with the
Verdant Tracker's Spike — a set of two blades of one model looks cohesive. - It contrasts with dark leather armor: the bright green of the blade makes the look more striking against muted tones.
- It is fitting in "feral" and "ranger" concepts for a rogue — the image of a hunter grown together with the forest.
Tips
The Blinding Vale is convenient to farm on classes with high mobility and fast area damage — clearing the corridor dungeon takes little time.
On Mythic Plus difficulty the dungeon is cleared faster thanks to denser enemy packs, but the appearance drops equally on any difficulty — pick the one that is more comfortable.
Alongside the dagger, other Harandar gear drops from the dungeon, so a run is rarely "empty."
If you want the appearance and not the stats, don't waste time leveling the item — it is enough to obtain it once and add it to your collection.
Check whether the related
Verdant Tracker's Spike has already dropped: it unlocks the same model, and collecting the second dagger is not required.
The appearance is saved to your account: once you unlock it on one character, you can apply the transmogrification on all the others.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
