TBC Classic Affliction Warlock Guide (Phase 3)
About the Class
Affliction Warlock is a ranged caster in cloth armor. Its damage comes from periodic effects and curses. Every warlock has damage-over-time effects, but this tree amplifies them the most. The specialization performs well when there are multiple targets: the same effects are applied to all of them at once. Its main value for a raid comes from improved curses and weakening debuffs, so an Affliction Warlock is almost always brought along.
Strengths
- Mana practically never runs out thanks to
Life Tap. - Little competition for gear: a significant portion of T4 and T5 items are crafted.
- Good self-sustain through
Drain Life and Siphon Life. - More survivable than other ranged fighters.
- Utility: curses,
Healthstone, and
Create Soulstone. - Strong crowd control through
Fear and
Banish.
Weaknesses
- Very serious threat problems.
- No movement-speed abilities.
- Expensive to gear up at the start due to the large number of crafted items.
- You need to farm
Soul Shard. - Periodic effects need time to ramp up to full damage.
- You have to cast almost without pauses, and the rotation consists of only a few buttons.
