Wastelander's Gilded Kris is an uncommon one-hand dagger added to World of Warcraft in patch 11.2.0 of the The War Within expansion. It is a short, wavy-edged kris blade rendered in the ethereal aesthetic of the K'aresh dimensional shard: warm gilding on the guard and pommel pairs with a dark grip, while the blade itself shimmers with a sandy-gold tint, hence the "Wastelander" epithet in the name.
The dagger belongs to the family of ethereal weapons using the "outdoorethereal" model — a single visual set that includes a sword, axe, mace, spear, paired blade and other types. They are all styled in the same desert-gold key, so the kris pairs easily with twin weapons from the same set.
In terms of stats it is an item level 73 piece with a level 80 character requirement, and there is no point wearing it in current content. The kris's value is purely cosmetic: a compact dagger model with crisp gold trim, handy for transmog collectors and for assembling light roguish looks.
The Wastelander's Gilded Kris does not drop directly from a specific boss or mob — it is part of the loot of two patch 11.2 reward caches:
Both caches are tied to activities in K'aresh — the new Season 3 zone. To access them you need a level 80 character and progress through patch 11.2 content: unlocking the K'aresh zone, completing the weekly delve quests, and quests for the local brokers and ethereal faction.
Key features of the source:
The kris is just one of the recolors and shapes of the large Wastelander ethereal weapon set. If the model you want has not dropped, take a look at the related items from the same visual family:
| Item | Type | Wowhead |
|---|---|---|
| Wastelander's Gilded Stiletto | Dagger, recolor | |
| Wastelander's Gilded War Blade | Paired blade | |
| Wastelander's Gilded Blade | Two-hand sword |
Wastelander's Gilded Stiletto is the closest substitute: it is the second dagger of the same set with the same 3D model and icon, differing only in finishing details. It drops from the same 11.2 reward caches, so the farm for both daggers is shared.
The most efficient way to farm the dagger is through weekly delves: complete the week's pinnacle quest to reliably obtain the
Pinnacle Cache.
Prioritize opening the first caches of the week — they are the ones that give gear, while later caches in the week more often contain consumable rewards.
Since the weapon from the set inside the cache drops randomly, plan for several weeks of farming if your goal is specifically the kris.
Build reputation with the local K'aresh faction in parallel: its quests unlock access to the caches and grant ethereal transmogs along the way.
You can open caches and collect the appearance on any class at level 80 — the dagger is only needed to unlock the appearance in the collection.
If the kris will not drop, do not forget about the
Wastelander's Gilded Stiletto: it is visually almost identical and farms from the same sources.
The appearance unlocks in the wardrobe right after you receive the item — there is no need to carry it in your bags or equip it.
Patch 11.2 content is current, so there is no need to rush the farm: the caches will be available every week for as long as The War Within Season 3 runs.
