Whirling Voidcleaver is a two-handed axe from the revamped Magisters' Terrace added in Midnight. The weapon stands out with a color scheme characteristic of the Void: dark purple blade metal with swirling void patterns running along the blade. The model was created specifically for Midnight and has no direct equivalents among older axes.
The item is available to the classes that can wield two-handed axes: warrior, paladin, and death knight.
Whirling Voidcleaver drops from Degentrius — the final boss of the Magisters' Terrace dungeon on the Isle of Quel'Danas.
Dungeon entrance:
Magisters' Terrace is one of the four dungeons in the first Mythic+ season of Midnight. The dungeon is part of the Mythic+ rotation with a 34-minute timer. Degentrius is the fourth and final boss, a Void-opened entity that has seized the terrace's upper halls.
Magisters' Terrace is in the active Mythic+ rotation of Midnight Season 1, so attempts accumulate during normal Mythic+ progression.
On Normal and Heroic difficulty, loot is bound to the week. On Mythic+ every clear gives a chance at a reward at the end — not tied to a specific boss, through the Great Vault.
Degentrius is the most technically demanding boss of the dungeon. The platform is divided into sectors by beams, and crossing a beam means serious damage. It is recommended to review the mechanics in advance so as not to hold up the group.
If you are farming the appearance for transmog rather than gear, aim for the weekly Mythic 0 clear — it is the fastest and most accessible way to get a chance at the drop.
The item is eligible for transmog only on the classes that can equip two-handed axes: warrior (all specializations), death knight (all specializations), paladin (two-handed weapon specializations).
The axe's color scheme scales well with dark dye tools — blue or purple shades of armor reinforce the void theme.
