WoW Forever: Fury Warrior
About the Class
The Fury Warrior fights with two weapons. The core of combat is
Bloodthirst and
Whirlwind, while critical strikes trigger
Flurry and speed up your next swings. In Forever,
Whirlwind hits with both weapons, so a good off-hand matters both for white hits and for your main ability.
The spec shines when a tank holds the enemy and you can stay next to the target for a long time. Your main resource is Rage: pool it in advance for your core abilities. Higher weapon damage doesn't directly increase the Rage from each normal swing; more reliable hits, critical strikes, and attack speed help you keep up the pace.
Strengths
- A straightforward rotation built around two main attacks.
- Good damage against small packs:
Whirlwind hits up to four targets.
Death Wish gives you a strong physical damage window.- Critical strikes boost your damage, attack speed, and Rage generation all at once.
- Has interrupts and backup defensive abilities with a shield.
Weaknesses
- Misses and losing contact with the target quickly leave you starved for Rage.
- Requires two suitable weapons and well-leveled weapon skills for them.
- Overusing
Heroic Strike delays your core attacks. - At low levels you don't have the key talents or the full level 60 rotation yet.
Stat Priority
- 1Weapon Damage
- 2Hit
- 3Expertise
- 4Critical Strike
- 5Strength
Against a level 63 boss, the target for special attacks is 8% Hit. When dual wielding, the base cap for auto-attacks is higher — 27% before talents; that doesn't mean you should sacrifice every other stat to reach it. Weigh extra Hit against the alternatives and factor in your off-hand talents.
When attacking from behind, Expertise that reduces dodge chance by 6.5% eliminates the boss's normal dodges. Hit and Expertise solve different problems. Critical auto-attacks generate twice as much Rage, and
Flurry speeds up your next three swings. Strength gives 2 Attack Power per point before buffs. Don't pick a weapon based on a single stat: consider damage, speed, and your off-hand.
Talents
Rotation (Ability Priority)
The opener is a set sequence of abilities you use as you engage an enemy. Memorising it helps initiate your rotation in the most optimal way possible.
- 1
Charge - 2
Rend - 3
Thunder Clap - 4
Sunder Armor
The full Fury rotation comes online once you unlock the core talents. Until then, use the basic Warrior abilities:
Charge — to open the fight and gain starting Rage
Bloodrage — when you need Rage, keeping the Health cost in mind
Battle Shout — keep the Attack Power buff up
Rend — against a target that will live long enough for the bleed to tick
Overpower — use the proc when it becomes available after the enemy dodges
Thunder Clap — to slow the attack speed of a dangerous target
Sunder Armor — against a durable enemy when you have spare Rage
Heroic Strike — only when you have excess Rage
After a kill, use
Victory Rush to restore Health.
Important Abilities
Ability | When It's Useful |
|---|---|
| Main attack that scales with Attack Power | |
| Damage with both weapons against one or more targets | |
| Faster attacks after a critical strike | |
| Temporary physical damage boost and fear immunity | |
| Interrupt in Berserker Stance | |
| Removes applicable fear and incapacitate effects | |
| Emergency defense with a shield in Defensive Stance | |
| Recovery after a qualifying kill |
Keep a one-handed weapon and a shield on hand for emergency defense.
Heroic Strike replaces your main-hand auto-attack and denies it its normal Rage generation; your off-hand keeps swinging on its own.
Best in Slot (BiS)
Enchants, Gems, Consumables
Best Race
Elune's Light grants a temporary boost to critical strike chance. It helps you keep
Flurry up and generate more Rage from critical auto-attacks.
Wind Blessed grants 2% attack speed, and
Skysight helps you get back to the target faster. Extra swings are good for both damage and Rage generation. Your choice of race also depends on how convenient its utility abilities are.
Best Professions
Mining supplies ore, and
Blacksmithing lets you craft weapons and armor. It's a practical pair for keeping your character self-sufficient if you're willing to gather materials and level the craft.
Engineering gives you extra gadgets and explosives, and
Mining covers some of the materials. This pair is appealing for extra combat tools and PvP. Among secondary professions,
First Aid is useful for bandages and
Cooking for food.
FAQ
Is Fury a good spec to level as?
Its main strengths come online after you unlock the key talents. For solo leveling with a two-handed weapon, Arms is often more comfortable; Fury really shines in a group with a tank.
Should I stack 27% Hit at all costs?
No. First make your special attacks reliable, then weigh extra Hit against Critical Strike, Strength, and other stats. Off-hand talents also affect how much it's worth in the end.
How important is the off-hand weapon?
Very important:
Whirlwind hits with both weapons, and off-hand auto-attacks provide both damage and Rage. Don't treat it as just an extra source of stats.
Why can't I use my next-swing strike all the time?
Heroic Strike costs Rage and replaces a main-hand swing. When you're low on Rage, it delays
Bloodthirst and
Whirlwind. Use it once your core attacks are covered.
Where to get gear before raids?
In dungeons, quests, set upgrade quest chains, and professions. The table above is a preliminary list; consider Hit, Expertise, and the set bonuses as a whole.
