Human (Alliance)

Dwarf (Alliance)

  • Game iconEarth's Wrath: removed. The 2% critical damage and healing bonus is no longer granted.
  • A new passive ability has been added, increasing spell and attack hit chance by 1%.

Tauren (Horde)

  • Game iconPlainsrunning: each accumulated effect now increases movement speed by 2% instead of 1%. The maximum bonus has increased from 30% to 60%.
  • Game iconPlainsrunning: no longer increases mounted movement speed.
  • Game iconEndurance: now grants only 5% maximum health. It no longer provides additional hit chance or critical damage.

Orc (Horde)

  • Game iconSavage: removed along with its 1% critical strike chance bonus.
  • Game iconCommand: restored. Increases the damage dealt by Hunter and Warlock pets by 5%.

Skyborne

High Order Skyborne (Alliance)

  • Game iconLeyline Reading: base regeneration bonus reduced from 100% to 50%. The effect lasts 15 sec.
  • Game iconLeyline Reading cannot be used while Game iconInnervate is active. If Game iconInnervate is cast afterward, it replaces the racial effect as the stronger buff.
  • Using Game iconLeyline Reading near a ley line also grants a 1-hour buff. While active, the racial ability increases regeneration by 100% instead of 50%. The buff persists through death.

Wind Shaper Skyborne (Horde)

  • Game iconSkyward Gaze: base movement speed bonus increased from 10% to 15%. The effect lasts 15 sec.
  • Using Game iconSkyward Gaze at a convergence of elements also grants a 1-hour buff. While active, the ability increases movement speed by 30%. The buff persists through death.

Why are racial abilities changing?

The developers want to preserve each race’s identity and allow some races to be a little more effective in certain combat roles. As a result, some universal bonuses are being replaced with abilities tied to specific classes or playstyles. Racial weapon specializations are not planned to return. Those bonuses have too much influence on loot choices in dungeons and raids, making certain weapon types mandatory.
