Get Zhar'doom, Greatstaff of the Devourer

Zhar'doom, Greatstaff of the Devourer is a two-handed epic-quality staff for casters, added in The Burning Crusade expansion. The look is instantly recognizable: a dark head shaped like a clawed maw, a purple-green glow of Fel energy and twisted spikes running along the shaft. The model nods to the felhounds and the demonic aesthetic of the Black Temple, which is why the staff remains one of the most distinctive "dark" appearances for mages, priests, warlocks, shamans and druids.

The same appearance is shared by several items with an identical name — the classic raid drop and its Timewalking version. For transmog it is the visual that matters, not the stats, so any source you can clear faster will do.

The main source of the appearance is the Black Temple raid, whose final boss drops the staff.

• The source boss is Illidan Stormrage, the last enemy of the raid.
• The drop chance stays around 15–18 %, so the appearance is secured within a few runs.
• The drop is personal, it binds on pickup and cannot be passed to another player.
• At the maximum level of 90 in Midnight the whole raid is cleared solo on any class, no healer or group needed.
• There is no attempt limit: the raid resets once a week and can be entered with every character on the account.

There is also a second path to the same appearance — Timewalking through the Black Temple. When the event is active, the raid opens via the Time-Lost figure, and the same staff drops from Illidan there as well. This is a convenient option if you want to clear the content in a small group and gather the rest of the temple's loot along the way.

• It harmonizes with Fel- and demonology-themed sets — the green-purple glow matches the tones of warlock armor.
• It complements the dark looks of Shadow priests and shamans: the maw-shaped head reinforces the "predatory" silhouette.
• It contrasts with light cloth armor — a debatable but striking combination for a "fallen mage" look.
