Overview

Alcor's Sunrazor

Game iconAlcor's Sunrazor is an epic one-handed dagger originating from the classic era of World of Warcraft. It is a compact blade with a warm golden-orange color scheme: the solar motif is reflected both in its name and in the weapon model itself. The dagger stands out noticeably from the gloomy, steel blades of the same level, so it is valued first and foremost as a bright accent in a transmog look.

The weapon carries a "Chance on hit" effect: on a successful proc, the blade casts Game iconFirebolt, dealing fire damage to the target. The combat effect itself has long been irrelevant — the dagger is of interest purely as an appearance for transmogrification.

The item has a level 24 requirement and binds when equipped, which matters: it can be bought or sold through the auction house. The appearance is available to any class that can wield daggers — rogues, mages, warlocks, priests, druids, shamans, and hunters.

Source

The main farming spot is the Zul'Farrak dungeon, located in the desert zone of Tanaris. This is a classic dungeon for levels 15–30, and today it is farmed almost exclusively for transmog.

  • Scattered throughout the dungeon are Shallow Grave containers — you need to open them manually by clicking on each one.
  • When a grave is opened, there is a chance for the enemy Zul'Farrak Dead Hero to appear — an undead from which the dagger drops.
  • The drop chance is low, so plan on a series of repeat runs rather than luck on the first try.
  • Besides the dungeon, the blade is listed as a rare world drop of the classic era, meaning it can fall from ordinary old-world mobs with an extremely small probability. You should not rely on this path — targeted Zul'Farrak farming is more reliable.

Getting to the dungeon is simple: fly to Gadgetzan in Tanaris and head due west from the city — the entrance to Zul'Farrak is by the large gates in the northwestern part of the zone.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Suits looks with a warm palette — gold, bronze, orange, and red; it pairs well with plate and mail sets of a solar or desert theme.
  • It harmonizes with looks that play on fire and light: the dagger does not get lost next to bright shoulders and weapons in red-gold tones.
  • It is fitting for a rogue or hunter in a "bandit" desert look — the compact model does not overload the silhouette.
  • It contrasts with dark shadow sets: against black and purple armor the golden blade becomes a sharp accent — a debatable but memorable choice.
  • It will suit a mage or priest as a light ceremonial weapon if the look is built around a theme of sun, light, or fire magic.

Tips

1

Farm Zul'Farrak in series of runs: the dungeon is large, but mounted movement is allowed inside, which noticeably speeds up the route.

2

Open absolutely every Shallow Grave along the way — it is from the appearing Zul'Farrak Dead Heroes that the dagger drops.

3

A max-level character clears the dungeon solo with ease — no group is required.

4

The dagger binds when equipped, so on a successful farm an extra copy can be put up on the auction house rather than destroyed.

5

If the appearance does not drop for a long time, check your server's auction house: as a classic-era world drop the blade periodically appears for sale.

6

A druid finds it most convenient to farm dungeons on reset: the Dreamwalk ability returns you right to the entrance of the last dungeon you visited.

7

The appearance only counts after the item has physically been in your bags or been equipped — simply viewing it in the database is not enough.
