Alnscorned Spire — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Alnscorned Spire is a two-handed staff added to World of Warcraft with the Midnight expansion (patch 12.0.0). It is a raid weapon with Agility, so it is primarily of interest to druids, hunters, and monks, whose specializations use staves as their main melee and ranged weapon.
The model is built around the aesthetic of the Dreamrift raid — a twisted nightmare dimension within the Rift of Aln. The head resembles a clot of frozen dream-like matter laced with dark veins, echoing the look of the source boss himself, Chimaerus. The palette is cold, shifting from deep purple to inky black with rare glowing accents — the recognizable "twisted dream" that serves as the visual motif of this raid's entire gear set.
The name itself is a nod to the lore: the haranir goddess of dreams, whose presence held the Rift of Aln together, was torn from her Cradle, and without her dreams the Rift of Aln collapsed into chaos. "Scorned" in the name points to that loss, while "spire" refers to the elongated, tower-like silhouette of the head.
Source
The staff drops from Chimaerus — the only boss of the The Dreamrift raid. This is a first-season Midnight raid consisting of just a single encounter with no trash clearing.
- The raid entrance is located in the Harandar zone, at the coordinates "/way 61.7 62.3".
- The raid opened on March 17, 2026 in three difficulties at once: Raid Finder, Normal, and Heroic.
- Mythic difficulty became available a week later, on March 24, 2026.
- The item level depends on the difficulty: 237 in Raid Finder, 250 on Normal, 263 on Heroic, 276 on Mythic.
- The appearance is credited for obtaining the staff on any difficulty, so the easiest version — Raid Finder — is enough for transmog.
- There is no attempt limit: the raid can be run weekly on every character until the desired weapon drops.
Chimaerus always drops a shoulder token for your class, while weapons, including this staff, fall into the shared loot pool with a chance that depends on the number of weapon-using specializations in the group.
Who It Suits Visually
- It harmonizes with dark sets based on a purple-and-black palette — for example, with Midnight raid tiers built around the aesthetic of twisted dreams and the Void.
- It suits Balance druids and hunters who want to emphasize an "otherworldly" theme in their look without bright warm colors.
- It contrasts with light cloth sets — a debatable but expressive pairing for looks at the boundary of light and darkness.
- It looks great with sets that already feature glowing cold accents, since the head repeats the same color range.
Tips
A single victory over Chimaerus in Raid Finder is enough for the appearance, so there is no need to wait for a premade group for higher difficulties.
Since the raid consists of a single boss, a weekly run takes only a few minutes — a convenient appearance farm across several characters.
Druids and monks should check the automatic loot distribution: Agility weapons are shared only among eligible specializations.
Alongside the staff, the same encounter can drop an off-hand weapon — the Aln-scorned tome of regret — to assemble a thematically linked look.
After the season the raid moves into legacy content and is easily soloed, which simplifies further farming of missing appearances.
If you only need the transmog, focus on a character already eligible to enter the raid at level 90 — the item's stats and upgrades are irrelevant for the appearance.
