Overview

Amani Sunfeather

Game iconAmani Sunfeather is a flying mount shaped like a majestic eagle, added in the Midnight expansion (patch 12.0.1). It is one of five new eagle mounts tied to the Amani tribe in Quel'Thalas. The mount's description reads: "Born from the Abundance and the renewal of the forest, these eagles gleam in the rays of the setting sun — a living symbol of the reborn strength of the Amani tribe."

The mount is purchased from a vendor with the "Abundance" world event currency and does not rely on luck — you are guaranteed to get it once you have saved up the required amount of resources.

Where to buy and how much it costs

The Amani Sunfeather is sold by Chel the Chip for 6,400 Unalloyed Abundance.

Chel the Chip stands near the entrance to the active Abundance caverns in each of the four Midnight zones:

Zone Coordinates
Eversong Woods /way #2395 56.78 65.79
Zul'Aman /way #2437 31.62 26.14
Harandar /way #2413 66.14 61.69
Voidstorm /way #2405 38.82 53.31

This same vendor also sells the event's second mount — the Blessed Amani Tiller — for the same price of 6,400 Unalloyed Abundance.

Requirements to obtain

  • A character at level 80 or higher
  • Complete the "Bountiful Lands" introductory quest chain given by Chel the Chip in the village of Amani'zar, Zul'Aman zone
  • The quest chain unlocks access to the Abundance event on all characters of your account — you only need to do it once
  • After finishing the tutorial quests, you will receive 4 starter Dundun Shards for your first runs

What the Abundance event is and how it works

Abundance is a Midnight world event tied to caverns in the four zones of Quel'Thalas. The active cavern rotates every 8 hours, cycling between the zones.

Event mechanics

  1. Find the active Abundance cavern on the map and approach the entrance
  2. Talk to Dundun — the Loa of Abundance — to start a run
  3. Use a Dundun Shard to empower the run — only empowered runs grant Unalloyed Abundance
  4. Once activated, you have exactly 3 minutes to collect treasures
  5. Kill mobs in the cavern — they drop orbs that you need to pick up
  6. Gather resources from harvest nodes (ore, herbs, skinning, mote extraction)
  7. Return to Dundun's altar regularly and turn in what you have collected — your carrying capacity is limited
  8. Movement speed and carrying capacity increase as you gather — the more you collect, the faster you work
  9. Anything left in your inventory after the timer expires is lost permanently

How much currency one run yields

The maximum from a single empowered run is 900 Unalloyed Abundance. Your actual earnings depend on your efficiency: how quickly you kill mobs, gather resources and turn them in on time.

How to get Dundun Shards

Dundun Shards are the "tickets" for empowered runs. Without them you can still do the event, but no Unalloyed Abundance will be awarded.

Sources:

  • Gathering professions — mining ore, herbalism, skinning, fishing
  • Rare mobs in the Midnight zones
  • Treasures out in the open world
  • Crafting orders

The weekly cap is 8 Dundun Shards per character. That means 8 empowered runs per week on a single character.

Time estimate to get the mount

Parameter Value
Mount cost 6,400 Unalloyed Abundance
Maximum per run 900
Runs per week (1 character) 8
Maximum per week (1 character) 7,200
Minimum weeks on 1 character ~1 week (with perfect efficiency)
Realistic estimate 1–2 weeks

With maximum efficiency (900 currency on each of the 8 runs) you will gather 7,200 — more than enough. In practice not every run will be perfect, so plan for 1–2 weeks of farming on a single character.

If you have several characters at level 80+, each of them can earn Dundun Shards and accumulate the currency independently. However, Unalloyed Abundance is bound to the character — it cannot be traded to another.

Weekly quest

Each week the quest "Weekly: Abundance" is available, requiring you to earn 20,000 points during the event. The reward is an Overflowing Abundance Pouch and 1,000 reputation with the Amani tribe. This quest does not directly affect getting the mount, but it helps build reputation.

Farming tips

  • Check the cavern rotation — the active location changes every 8 hours, so before spending a Shard make sure the cavern is convenient for you
  • Turn in resources more often — don't get greedy with carrying capacity; it is better to make an extra trip to the altar than to lose everything to the timer
  • Gathering professions speed up the process — a character with mining, herbalism or skinning will collect extra resources from nodes inside the cavern
  • Fishing counts too — even if you don't have the classic gathering professions, fishing yields Dundun Shards
  • Farm on alts — if your main has already used up the weekly Shard cap, switch to your alts

Other Midnight eagle mounts

The Amani Sunfeather is one of five eagle mounts tied to the Amani tribe. If you are collecting the full set, check out the guides for the other Midnight eagles as well — they are obtained in similar ways through the Abundance event and other Quel'Thalas activities.
