Amber Pterrordax

Amber Pterrordax is a flying mount added to World of Warcraft with patch 10.2.7 as part of the WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria event (May 16 – August 20, 2024). It is an epic pterrordax with amber-yellow scales and a bronze harness, built on the winged saurian model familiar from Pandaria. The flavor text from the mount journal warns outright: "This pterrordax could devour you in seconds. Are you sure that riding on its back is a good idea?"

The mount was sold by Hemet Nesingwary XVII, a beast-hunting vendor with the title "Great Hunter" who stood in every Infinite Bazaar across Remix Pandaria. The cost was 4,400 Bronze — the event currency players earned from Remix dungeons, raids, events, and scenarios.

When the event ended on August 20, 2024, both the vendor and the currency became unavailable, and the Reins of the Amber Pterrordax moved into the category of mounts that cannot be obtained in the current version of the game (TWW 11.1, 2026). This guide preserves its historical value for collectors who got to play Remix, and describes the steps to take should the event ever return.

• A full-fledged flying mount — it reaches maximum flight speed with the "Master Riding" skill, perfect for everyday travel at max level
• Exclusive to a concluded event — after August 20, 2024 the mount is not granted from any source. Every owner of the Reins of the Amber Pterrordax proves they played Remix
• Account-bound — once learned, the mount appears in the collection of every character regardless of faction, race, or class
• Part of a set of four Remix mounts — alongside the amber coloration, Hemet Nesingwary XVII sold the Reins of the Jade Pterrordax, the Reins of the Nightmist Terrorwing, and the Reins of the Bloodgorged Skyscreamer at the same price.

The only way to obtain the Reins of the Amber Pterrordax was to purchase them from the vendor Hemet Nesingwary XVII in the Infinite Bazaar while the WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria event was active.

1. Create or activate a Remix character in the dedicated game-mode selection menu. The story and content of the event fully recreate Mists of Pandaria from 2012
2. Level the character to 70 and farm Bronze through dungeons, raids (Firelands, Heart of Fear, Throne of Thunder, Siege of Orgrimmar), scenarios, events, and daily quests. Bronze is the Remix event currency
3. Fly to the Infinite Bazaar — the event opens this hub in several Pandaria locations, including the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, the Valley of the Four Winds, the Jade Forest, Kun-Lai Summit, the Townlong Steppes, and the Dread Wastes
4. Find Hemet Nesingwary XVII — a dwarf in samurai armor surrounded by a large "infinite" beast
5. Open the trade window and buy the Reins of the Amber Pterrordax for 4,400 Bronze
6. Use the item — the mount is learned instantly and appears in the collection on every character of your account in the regular game

Hemet Nesingwary XVII sold four color variants of the same pterrordax. All mounts shared the price of 4,400 Bronze and disappeared from sale the moment the event closed.

Players who saved Bronze throughout the event could close the whole set: 17,600 Bronze for four unique colorations — a relatively modest sum by Remix standards.

Hemet Nesingwary XVII appeared in every Infinite Bazaar. These temporary hubs opened in the major zones of Remix Pandaria.

• Vale of Eternal Blossoms — the main central hub with a full roster of vendors
• Valley of the Four Winds — near the Halfhill refuge
• Jade Forest — the event starting zone
• Kun-Lai Summit
• Townlong Steppes
• Dread Wastes — near the entrance to the Heart of Fear

The vendor's stock was identical in every location, so the choice of hub came down to travel convenience.

The mount cost 4,400 Bronze — a relatively small sum, but it had to be added to more expensive purchases (transmog sets, the other mounts, toys). Bronze accumulated most efficiently through a combination of activities.

Dungeons and raids

1. Heroic Pandaria dungeons gave steady Bronze per run and incidentally upgraded the cloak with power points
2. Old Mists of Pandaria raids (Firelands, Heart of Fear, Throne of Thunder) handed out large amounts of Bronze per boss
3. Siege of Orgrimmar capped the weekly cycle and brought the most Bronze in a single run

Events and scenarios

• World events in Remix Pandaria zones triggered often and gave Bronze plus valuable gems
• Scenarios cleared quickly and suited pure currency farming
• Daily quests in the Valley of the Four Winds and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms added a steady sum to the daily routine

Gems and disenchanting

Valuable enhancement gems that dropped from bosses could be broken down into Bronze. This provided an extra currency stream, especially for players with a fully upgraded gear set.

Blizzard publicly confirmed interest in relaunching the Remix format. If WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria returns in a future rotation, the Reins of the Amber Pterrordax will very likely reappear in the stock of Hemet Nesingwary XVII. It pays to prepare in advance.
