Amber Shardhide

Amber Shardhide is an epic ground mount added in patch 9.1.0 "Chains of Domination" of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a large crystalline creature from Korthia with a distinctive amber coloration. The mount is purchased from Duchess Mynx in Korthia for 5,000 Stygia once you reach Honored reputation with the Death’s Advance faction.

This creature’s bright amber coloring is a hallmark of Korthia’s wildlife. As the in-game description states: "The vivid colors of Korthia’s inhabitants suggest that they either have few natural predators or are strong enough to fight back." The mount model is a massive bear-like beast with crystalline growths across its hide.

• Guaranteed acquisition — the mount is bought from a vendor rather than farmed off mobs. Once you reach the required reputation and save up Stygia, you are certain to add it to your collection.
• Unique model — shardhides are found only in Korthia. The amber coloring makes the mount stand out and easy to recognize among most other mounts.
• Available to all characters — after purchase, the mount becomes available to all characters on the account.
• Relatively easy to obtain — only Honored reputation is required, which significantly shortens the grind.
• Part of a collection — the Amber Shardhide belongs to the shardhide family alongside the Crimson Shardhide and the Beryl Shardhide, helping you fill out your mount collection for achievements.

To buy the mount you need to meet two conditions: reach Honored reputation with Death’s Advance and have 5,000 Stygia.

1. Unlock access to Korthia by completing the patch 9.1 "Chains of Domination" introductory quest chain. The quests start automatically in Oribos.
2. Arrive in Korthia and set up your base at Keeper’s Respite — the central camp of the zone.
3. Raise your reputation with Death’s Advance to Honored (12,000 points in total from Neutral to Honored).
4. Save up 5,000 Stygia.
5. Find Duchess Mynx at Keeper’s Respite (coordinates 63.4, 23.4).
6. Purchase the Amber Shardhide and use the item to learn the mount.

Duchess Mynx is the quartermaster of the Death’s Advance faction. She is located at Keeper’s Respite, the central camp of Korthia. In addition to the Amber Shardhide, you can buy other mounts, gear, transmog, and consumables from her.

How to Get There

1. Use the portal in Oribos that leads to the Maw
2. From the Maw, travel to Korthia through the portal that opens as you progress the patch 9.1 storyline
3. Keeper’s Respite is in the central part of Korthia — a camp with a flight point, vendors, and a mailbox

Duchess Mynx can also repair your gear, which is handy during long farming sessions in the zone.

To buy the Amber Shardhide it is enough to reach Honored — the third reputation tier (after Neutral and Friendly). You will need 12,000 points in total.

Daily Quests in Korthia

Every day, Korthia offers daily quests that grant Death’s Advance reputation. Complete all available quests — this is your main source of reputation points.

Weekly Tasks

The weekly tasks of the Maw and Korthia grant a significant amount of reputation. Don’t skip them on the weekly reset.

Rare Enemies and Events

Korthia is home to rare enemies marked with stars on the map. Killing them grants Death’s Advance reputation and may also reward valuable items and Stygia.

Story Campaign

Completing the weekly chapters of the patch 9.1 story campaign grants large one-time chunks of reputation. New chapters open each week.

How Long It Takes

By completing all available tasks daily, Honored is reached in about 1–2 weeks. This is much faster than grinding to Exalted, which is required for some of Duchess Mynx’s other mounts.

Stygia is a currency obtained in the Maw and Korthia. You will need 5,000 units to buy the mount.

• Daily quests in Korthia — reward Stygia alongside reputation. You will earn both rewards in parallel
• Rare enemies in Korthia — killing rares yields Stygia. Track their spawns on the map
• Chests in Korthia — scattered across the zone and containing Stygia. Some chests require solving puzzles
• The Maw — completing tasks and killing elite enemies in the Maw yields Stygia
• Assaults — taking part in assaults in the Maw rewards a significant amount of Stygia

Important Notes on Stygia

When you die in the Maw, your character loses part of the Stygia you’ve accumulated. Be careful and don’t carry more Stygia than you’re willing to lose. There is no death penalty in Korthia, so farming there is safer.
