Antoran Charhound — How to Get the Mount
Antoran Charhound

Antoran Charhound is a rare flying mount added in Patch 7.3 of the Legion expansion. The mount is modeled after a fire-breathing demonic hound with a flaming harness and vivid fiery-red accents. According to its mount journal description: "Sargeras' own hound was perhaps once a Fel Stalker, but over the long years the Dark Titan has reshaped and transformed his companion into something far more powerful."
This mount features a unique fiery model — it is the paired version of the
Antoran Gloomhound, which uses the same model but with a shadow color scheme. Both hounds visually mirror the bosses in the Felhounds of Sargeras raid encounter: F'harg (fire) and Shatug (shadow).
Why You Want This Mount
- One of the most striking demonic mounts in the game — a blazing hound model with detailed fiery harness
- Can fly: flight speed is 150%, 280%, or 310% depending on your riding skill
- Rarity: the low drop chance makes this mount a prized trophy for collectors
- Thematically tied to one of Legion's iconic raids — Antorus, the Burning Throne
- Counts toward your overall mount collection achievements
How to Obtain
The primary method of obtaining this mount is killing the Felhounds of Sargeras (F'harg and Shatug), the second boss of the Antorus, the Burning Throne raid. The mount drops as personal loot with a low chance on all difficulties, including Raid Finder.
Additionally, the mount can appear on the Black Market Auction House (BMAH), where it can be purchased for gold. However, BMAH listings are irregular and involve competition with other players, so consider this a backup method.
Requirements for Use
- Character level: 10 and above
- Riding skill: Apprentice Riding (ground mode) or Expert Riding (flight)

How to Get to Antorus, the Burning Throne
The Antorus, the Burning Throne raid is located in the Antoran Wastes on Argus. To get there, follow these steps:
Route
- Travel to Dalaran (Legion). Use the portal from your faction's capital city (Stormwind or Orgrimmar) to Dalaran above the Broken Isles.
- Use the Lightforged Beacon. Go to Krasus' Landing in Dalaran and activate the yellow portal — the Lightforged Beacon. It will transport you aboard the Vindicaar.
- Fly to Argus. On the Vindicaar's bridge, use the Navigation Console and select your destination — Light's Purchase in the Antoran Wastes.
- Reach the raid entrance. From Light's Purchase, head west along the path through the Stasis Core. At the fork near the Felfire Armory, turn northwest, descend to the fel-plasma river, and follow it south along the canyon. The raid entrance is at the end of the canyon — a crack in the rock beneath the artillery platform.
Prerequisites
- The Argus questline is not required to enter the raid at level 80. You can use the portal at Krasus' Landing directly.
- Having flying is recommended for quick travel through the Antoran Wastes.
Farming Optimization
Weekly Routine
The raid lockout is weekly. Each difficulty has its own independent lockout, giving you 4 attempts per week per character (Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, Mythic).
Route Inside the Raid
Felhounds of Sargeras is the second boss. You only need to kill the first boss — Garothi Worldbreaker — before them. At level 80, both bosses die in seconds.
- Enter the raid and kill Garothi Worldbreaker (1st boss, right at the entrance)
- Continue through the corridor to the Felhounds of Sargeras (2nd boss)
- Kill F'harg and Shatug, check your loot
- Exit the raid, change difficulty, repeat
Time per run: 2–4 minutes (to the Felhounds only). Four runs on one character take about 10–15 minutes.
Using Alts
The more max-level characters you use, the faster you'll get the mount.
| Characters per week | Attempts per week | Average time to obtain (at ~3% chance) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | 6–8 months |
| 5 | 20 | 1–2 months |
| 10 | 40 | 2–4 weeks |
Recommended Classes
At level 80, all bosses die instantly. The key factor is movement speed:
| Class | Advantage |
|---|---|
| Druid | Instant flight form, fast travel between runs |
| Demon Hunter | Double jump and glide for faster movement inside the raid |
| Mage | Teleport to Dalaran saves time between characters |
| Monk | Zen Pilgrimage for quick return to Dalaran |
Tips
- Set the difficulty before entering. Right-click your character portrait and select the desired raid difficulty. Remember to switch difficulty before each run.
- Use the SavedInstances addon. It shows which characters have already killed the Felhounds of Sargeras this week and on which difficulties, so you don't waste time on duplicate runs.
- Use the Rarity addon. It tracks the number of boss kill attempts and calculates the statistical probability of obtaining the mount based on accumulated data.
- Reset the instance after each run. After killing the Felhounds of Sargeras, exit the raid, right-click your character portrait, and select "Reset all instances," then change difficulty and enter again.
- Watch the Black Market Auction House. The mount periodically appears on the BMAH. If you have enough gold, this might be a faster way to obtain it than weekly farming.
- Don't confuse the two hounds.
Antoran Gloomhound is a different mount with a shadow color scheme that drops from the same encounter. Both mounts can drop independently of each other. - "Collector's Bounty" event. Keep an eye out for the periodic in-game event that increases the drop chance of rare mounts from raids — it can significantly speed up your farming.
