Overview

Beryl Shardhide

Game iconBeryl Shardhide is an epic-quality ground mount added to World of Warcraft in patch 9.1 "Chains of Domination" of the Shadowlands expansion. It is a massive bear-like beast of a turquoise-green hue whose body, instead of fur, is covered in spikes and stone plates resembling raptor scales. Shardhides are native to Korthia, and their natural camouflage lets them blend into the local crystalline landscape.

The mount drops with a very small chance from Game iconDeath's Advance Supplies — a paragon cache handed out by the quartermaster Duchess Mynx in Keeper's Respite for every 10,000 reputation earned beyond Exalted with the Death's Advance faction.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Unique model — among the four color variants of shardhides, the beryl one stands out with its rich green-turquoise coloring and the massive stone armor on its back.
  • Full movement speed — the mount grants a +60% or +100% movement speed bonus depending on your riding skill, meaning it moves at the maximum speed of ground transport.
  • Account-wide — once obtained, the mount unlocks for every character on your account, regardless of faction and class.
  • One of Korthia's paragon mounts — alongside it, the Game iconMawsworn Soulhunter can also drop from Game iconDeath's Advance Supplies, letting you farm two mounts in parallel.
  • Nostalgic Shadowlands content — a great excuse to return to the patch 9.1 storyline and clear the accompanying achievements, quests and Korthia collectibles.

How to Obtain

The main path to the mount is grinding reputation with Death's Advance to Exalted and then receiving paragon caches for every 10,000 points beyond it.

  1. Unlock access to Korthia by completing the patch 9.1 "Chains of Domination" introductory story chain — it begins at your covenant leader in the Sanctum after reaching a certain stage of the Shadowlands campaign
  2. Grind reputation with Death's Advance to Exalted. The main reputation sources are daily quests in Korthia, the weekly quest Shaping Fate, covenant assaults in the Maw, and "Tormentors of Torghast" events
  3. After reaching Exalted, keep earning reputation. For every 10,000 points beyond Exalted, the paragon quest Game iconDeath's Advance Supplies will appear at Duchess Mynx in Keeper's Respite
  4. Turn in the quest and receive the item Game iconDeath's Advance Supplies
  5. Open the cache — with a small chance, the Game iconBeryl Shardhide will be inside

Mount Source

The Beryl Shardhide comes exclusively from the Game iconDeath's Advance Supplies paragon cache. There is no alternative drop source, no vendor and no achievement reward — only the paragon system of the Death's Advance faction in Korthia awards this mount.

Requirements and Preparation

To grind reputation and farm the mount you will need a character with access to Korthia and a steady weekly activity routine.

  • Character level — the mount requires level 40 to use, though Shadowlands content is available at higher levels through Chromie Time
  • Story chain — complete the Shadowlands campaign up to the stage that unlocks Korthia, then the patch 9.1 introductory chain at your covenant leader
  • Covenant of any faction — in Korthia you will fly on your own mount, but some quests are given through your covenant line; any of the four works
  • Free inventory — paragon caches drop once every few weeks, but the quests tied to them also take up a slot
  • Daily and weekly tasks — settle in for a long, regular farm, since one cache is awarded on average once every 1–2 weeks of active play

How to Reach Korthia

  1. Finish the Shadowlands story up to the moment when your covenant sends you into the Maw to investigate
  2. Pick up the chain "Korthia, City of Secrets" from your covenant leader in the Sanctum. The chain walks you through your first introductions to the new zone
  3. After completing the introductory quests, use the portal from the Sanctum or the flying gryphon from Oribos to Korthia. The portal appears on the world map
  4. In Korthia, head straight to Keeper's Respite — it is the central camp of the Death's Advance faction and the hub for daily quests
  5. Find the quartermaster Duchess Mynx at coordinates 63.4, 23.4 — there you will turn in paragon quests and buy rewards for Stygia

Death's Advance Reputation Sources

The more activities you complete weekly, the faster you will receive a paragon cache. Prioritize tasks with a high reputation ratio.

Activity
Reputation
Frequency
Weekly quest Shaping Fate1500 + 750 on turn-inonce a week
Covenant assaults in the Maw350 eachtwice a week
Daily quests in Korthia~150 per questdaily
"Tormentors of Torghast" (first of the week)100 + 200 from cacheonce a week with bonus
"Tormentors of Torghast" (subsequent)100every 2 hours
Rare kills and treasures10–50 per objectas they appear
Death's Advance Contract (medallion)+10% reputationpermanent buff

With a full weekly rotation you earn about 5000–5500 reputation per week on a single character.

Farm Optimization

Weekly Cycle

A paragon cache cannot be obtained more than once per week — it is awarded only after accumulating 10,000 reputation beyond Exalted. Therefore the main strategy is to maximize reputation per unit of time.

  1. At the start of the week, immediately pick up the quest Shaping Fate and progress it through any activity in Korthia and the Maw
  2. Close out both covenant assaults as soon as they appear
  3. Do one "Tormentors of Torghast" run per week — the first time gives an extra cache with 200 reputation
  4. Complete daily quests in the morning so you can grab new rares and treasures along the way

Multi-farming on Alts

The Beryl Shardhide drops from the paragon cache with a very low chance — community experience suggests 1–3% per opening. The main way to speed up the acquisition is to bring in alts.

  • Grind reputation to Exalted on additional characters
  • Each alt will independently bank 10,000 points and receive separate caches
  • You can alternate covenant assaults and dailies between alts, using shared progress on the weekly quest
  • With 3–5 active characters earning paragons, you get 3–5 times more rolls on the mount each month

Using Bonuses and Boosters

  • Equip Game iconContract: Death's Advance on all characters to speed up the initial grind to Exalted
  • Use reputation elixirs when they are active during seasonal events
  • Complete quests in a group — mob kills in a team with an experience bonus slightly speed up progress

Tips

1

Do not skip weekly rotations — a missed week means minus 5000 reputation, that is half a paragon cycle. If you play irregularly, focus at least on the weekly quest and two assaults

2

Keep a stock of unopened caches — if you urgently need rewards or faction currency, bank item_korthia_paragonchest_02Death's Advance Supplies for a single mass opening: it does not affect the mount chance but simplifies loot tracking

3

The paragon bar does not reset between weeks — accumulated reputation beyond Exalted is preserved, so play at a comfortable pace

4

Farm the Mawsworn Soulhunter in parallel — the inv_mawexpansionfliermountgreenMawsworn Soulhunter drops from the same cache, so you close out both mounts with one rotation

5

Check the other ways to get shardhides — the inv_mawexpansionbearmount_redCrimson Shardhide drops from the rare Malbog in Korthia, the inv_mawexpansionbearmount_yellowAmber Shardhide is bought from Duchess Mynx for 5000 Stygia upon reaching Revered. Combine collecting the set

6

Watch for Stygia events — Korthia rares and treasures additionally grant Stygia and reputation, and some shardhide mounts drop on their own in an enchanted form

7

The mount is account-wide once obtained — as soon as one character unlocks the inv_mawexpansionbearmount_greenBeryl Shardhide, it appears in the mount collection of all your characters, regardless of faction and class
