Biting Wind — Transmog Set Guide

Biting Wind is a rare-quality one-handed dagger that arrived in World of Warcraft alongside The Vortex Pinnacle dungeon in the Cataclysm expansion. It is a light piercing weapon with a slender curved blade and a hilt in cool gray-blue tones: the silhouette is deliberately airy, matching its name and the place where the dagger is obtained.

In the modern game, Biting Wind is most interesting as a transmogrification piece: its look is collected for light, "windswept" appearances and sets in a cool palette. In the appearance catalog the dagger belongs to the Cataclysm-era models and fits well with themes of the air element and skyward palaces.

Biting Wind drops in The Vortex Pinnacle dungeon, located in Uldum. The dagger drops from the dungeon's first boss — Grand Vizier Ertan.

• Grand Vizier Ertan is the first of The Vortex Pinnacle's three bosses, so you reach the drop you need quickly: there's no need to kill the other bosses for the dagger.
• According to Wowhead data, the drop chance from this boss is about 1.2%.
• The drop is not capped by a hard once-per-week limit: the dungeon can be re-run by changing the difficulty or resetting the instance.
• At max level the boss dies in one or two hits, so a single attempt takes only minutes.

How to reach the dungeon:

• The Vortex Pinnacle is in Uldum, on the zone's southeastern coast, southeast of the Lost City of the Tol'vir.
• The entrance is towers floating in the sky; you need to climb high enough, right into the clouds, otherwise the entrance portal is easy to miss. The reference point is /way Uldum 76 84.
• Opening the dungeon yourself is easiest once you've reached Uldum through any available portal — for example, from the Caverns of Time.

There is also a second route to this appearance — the Cataclysm Timewalking event. During an active event week, The Vortex Pinnacle is in the list of available past-expansion dungeons, and the dagger can be obtained while running it through the Dungeon Finder tool.

Biting Wind has no known official color variants — the appearance exists in a single version. At the same time, the look itself is available across several item versions: besides the base dagger from normal mode, there is a version from Heroic mode of The Vortex Pinnacle with the same name and the same model. For the appearance collection there is no difference — it's enough to obtain any of them from Grand Vizier Ertan.
