Black Wolf

Horn of the Black Wolf — an item that teaches the Black Wolf ground mount. This is one of the standard Horde riding wolves added to World of Warcraft in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion (patch 3.1.0). The Black Wolf is a large and hardy animal with coal-black fur, bred by Orgrimmar riders for long journeys across Kalimdor.

The mount is sold by Ogunaro Wolfrunner in Orgrimmar for the nominal price of 1 gold. To purchase it, you must play as an Orc, or have Exalted reputation with the Orgrimmar faction.

• Collector's value — The Black Wolf is part of the complete set of Orgrimmar riding wolves. If you are collecting all available mounts in the game, this wolf is a required part of the collection. Ogunaro Wolfrunner sells several wolf variants with different colorings.
• Minimal cost — The mount costs only 1 gold. This is one of the cheapest purchases among all mounts in the game.
• Available at low level — You can acquire the Black Wolf as soon as you learn the Riding skill (available from level 10). This makes it an excellent first mount for a new Horde character.
• Account-wide — After purchase, the mount will appear in the collection of all your characters, including characters of both factions.
• Classic wolf model — Orgrimmar riding wolves remain among the most iconic Horde mounts since the game's release. The Black Wolf stands out with its dark coloring compared to the brown and gray variants.

Ogunaro Wolfrunner is located in the Valley of Honor — the central district of Orgrimmar. Getting to him is straightforward: Orgrimmar is the Horde capital and one of the main transport hubs in the game.

1. If you are in another location, use your Hearthstone set to Orgrimmar, or a portal from any major Horde city
2. Once in Orgrimmar, head to the Valley of Honor. Ogunaro stands near the wolf pens
3. Talk to him and open the trade window

Obtaining the Black Wolf depends on your character's race.

For Orcs

If your character is an Orc, the process is as simple as possible:

1. Reach level 10 and learn the Apprentice Riding skill from a trainer in Orgrimmar
2. Find Ogunaro Wolfrunner in the Valley of Honor
3. Purchase the Horn of the Black Wolf for 1 gold
4. Use the item — the mount will be added to your collection

For Other Horde Races

If your character is not an Orc, Exalted reputation with the Orgrimmar faction is required to purchase.

1. Check your current reputation level with Orgrimmar in the Reputation tab of the character window.
2. If your reputation is below Exalted, equip the Orgrimmar Tabard and run dungeons — the tabard converts earned reputation into Orgrimmar reputation.
3. Once you reach Exalted, go to Ogunaro Wolfrunner and purchase the mount.

The Orgrimmar Tabard is sold by the faction ambassador in Orgrimmar. You can reach Exalted through dungeons in a few hours of active play at maximum level.

From Ogunaro Wolfrunner in Orgrimmar, you can purchase several riding wolf variants. All of them cost 1 gold and require the Orc race or Exalted with Orgrimmar.

All wolves differ only in coloring — their movement speed and mechanics are identical. If you are collecting mounts, it makes sense to purchase all variants at once, as the total cost is only a few gold.

If your character is not an Orc and your reputation with Orgrimmar has not yet reached Exalted, here are the most effective ways to earn it.

Tabard and Dungeons

The fastest method is to equip the Orgrimmar Tabard and run dungeons. For each mob killed you receive Orgrimmar reputation. At maximum level (80 in The War Within), the most efficient approach is to run heroic dungeons from old expansions — they are completed in a few minutes and provide a large number of kills.

Starting Zone Quests

Quests in the Orc starting zones (Durotar and the Northern Barrens) also grant Orgrimmar reputation. This method is slower than the tabard, but is suitable for low-level characters.

How Much Reputation Is Needed

Most Horde characters already have a high reputation level with Orgrimmar from quests completed while leveling. Check your current level — it is quite possible that you only need a small amount more.
