Get Blade of Eternal Darkness
Overview

Blade of Eternal Darkness is an epic one-handed dagger that comes from the very first content set of World of Warcraft. It is a classic "caster" dagger: a narrow dark blade on a twisted hilt, finished in a cool purple-blue palette. Its silhouette is restrained, with no flashy spikes or pommels, so the blade fits just as comfortably into a mage's outfit as into the look of a priest or warlock.
The blade belongs to the era of the original World of Warcraft. Its item level scales to the character, so the dagger works as a real weapon during the leveling phase, while at max level it serves purely as an appearance source for your transmog collection.
Source
The Blade of Eternal Darkness drops from a single source — Princess Theradras, the final boss of the Maraudon dungeon.
- Princess Theradras is an elite earth elemental and the guardian of the dungeon's inner halls. You can find her in the far part of Maraudon, by the Earthsong Falls.
- The entrance to the dungeon is located in Desolace, in the Valley of Spears on the western coast of central Kalimdor. The entry point is roughly
/way 28.8 62.7. - The chance to get the dagger from a single kill is about 7%. That's roughly one attempt out of fourteen, so plan on a series of runs.
- There is no cap on the number of attempts: the dungeon can be reset and cleared again many times in a row, limited only by Blizzard's overall cap of 10 instance entries per hour per account.
- Besides the dagger, Princess Theradras also drops other items that were epic for their time — the
Princess Theradras' Scepter and the
Eye of Theradras. If you're collecting appearances, it makes sense to grab those as well. - The dagger itself is bind on pickup, so the appearance unlocks for the character who looted the item.
Maraudon is a low-level dungeon from the classic era. A max-level character clears it entirely in a few minutes, so farming the blade comes down to quick, repeated runs. Princess Theradras dies in mere seconds at max level: her fear-wave and knockback abilities don't have time to affect the outcome of the fight.
If the goal is transmog only, the most convenient way is to enter Maraudon on a class with strong single-target damage and its own mobility: a mage, demon hunter, rogue, monk, or evoker runs the dungeon in 5–10 minutes. Along the way to the boss you'll come across other classic epics and rare armor sets, so farming the appearance pairs well with farming a full Maraudon transmog set.
Alternatives
The Blade of Eternal Darkness has no official color variants — it is a unique model. If you need a dagger with a similar mood in a dark palette, take a look at the other trophies from the same boss and dungeon.
The Princess Theradras' Scepter is a two-handed blunt weapon in earthy-green tones, complementing Maraudon's "nature-shadow" theme. The Eye of Theradras is a cloth headpiece from the same dungeon, suitable for a cohesive look in a single style. If you specifically need a dagger, the closest match in silhouette will be the narrow dark blades of the classic era — they're easy to browse through the dagger appearance catalog on Wowhead.
Who It Suits Visually
- Dark and purple-blue cloth armor sets — the dagger supports the "shadow" palette of a Shadow priest or warlock.
- Mage looks in cool tones — the blade echoes frost and arcane magic without overloaded detail.
- Restrained "stealthy" rogue builds — the narrow blade with no flashy effects pairs well with dark leather armor.
- Themed sets around the earth element and the Old Gods — the blade fits logically into looks that reference the lore of Maraudon and Theradras.
- Dual-wielding two identical daggers — thanks to its calm silhouette, the Blade of Eternal Darkness doesn't overload the look when equipped in both hands.
Tips
Bring a character with fast movement and strong area damage for the farm — it clears Maraudon in mere minutes.
The most efficient mode is a series of solo runs: kill Princess Theradras, exit the dungeon, reset the instance, and enter again.
Keep in mind Blizzard's cap of 10 instance entries per hour per account — with intensive farming you hit it quickly, and you'll have to wait or continue on another character.
Pick up the Princess Theradras' Scepter and the Eye of Theradras along the way — in a single run there's a chance to add several appearances to your collection at once.
After killing the boss, check whether the appearance unlocked: transmogrification only counts once the item is actually received into your inventory.
If the dagger doesn't drop in your first runs, don't despair — at a chance of about 7% the spread in the number of attempts is wide, and the runs themselves are short.
The appearance unlocks account-wide, so you can farm with whichever character clears the dungeon fastest, including an alt.
Low-level dungeons like Maraudon are convenient to farm between other activities: a single run takes less time than waiting for a group queue.
