Overview

Blood Weeper

Game iconBlood Weeper is a one-handed dagger of epic quality, added to World of Warcraft with the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is a short, curved blade with a distinctive crimson sheen: the edge looks as if it is coated in caked blood, while a dark-red glow smolders at its base. The silhouette is predatory and compact, without bulky ornamentation — the weapon looks like a ritual knife rather than a ceremonial dagger.

This piece is meant for melee fighters who need a dagger for the main or off hand: rogues, as well as druids in cat form and enhancement shamans who use daggers for transmog. The swing speed is 1.80, and the dagger's stat profile is geared toward agility, stamina, and haste and critical strike ratings.

For transmogrification, Blood Weeper is valued precisely for its color scheme: deep blood-red is not the most common shade among daggers, and pulling such a blade from accessible content is quite easy.

Source

Blood Weeper drops from the Devourer of Souls fight — the second and final boss of The Forge of Souls dungeon.

  • The dagger drops only from the Heroic version of the dungeon.
  • The drop chance is moderate, on the level of an ordinary item in the boss's loot table, so it may not appear in a single run.
  • It binds on pickup, and the blade cannot be passed to another character — you have to farm it on whoever needs the appearance.
  • There is no limit on the number of attempts: the dungeon can be rerun as many times a day as you like.

The Forge of Souls is a dungeon from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, part of the Frozen Halls complex in the lower section of Icecrown Citadel. The entrance is located on the southern side of the citadel structure, in the Icecrown zone, and a shared summoning stone for all three dungeons of the complex is nearby.

The easiest way to get inside is through the Dungeon Finder tool: Heroic mode requires a level 80 character. You can also fly directly to the entrance — the portal to The Forge of Souls is the first door on the left in the row of Frozen Halls entrances.

At the character's current level, the dungeon is cleared solo with no trouble. The Devourer of Souls uses several abilities that are safe in solo mode: "Mirrored Soul" reflects damage taken by the boss onto a marked player, and "Wailing Souls" deals shadow damage in a directed beam with a knockback. In a group these mechanics must be respected, but during high-level solo farming they barely matter.

Who It Suits Visually

  • Fits sets in a dark-red palette — for example, armor with blood themes from the Wrath of the Lich King era.
  • Harmonizes with the black-and-crimson sets of death knights and any look with a "vampiric" slant.
  • Looks great paired with its own lesser variant, Bloody Weeper — two identical blades in both hands give a cohesive silhouette.
  • Contrasts with light leather armor: the bright red blade on a beige set looks bold, but memorable.
  • Thematically close to assassin and cultist looks — a compact ritual knife with no decorative excess.

Tips

1

Farming Heroic The Forge of Souls is most convenient through the Dungeon Finder tool — it teleports you straight to the entrance.

2

The dungeon is short: only two bosses, and a solo clear at current level takes a few minutes.

3

In a single run the Devourer of Souls drops only part of its loot table, so if luck is against you, go back in — there is no limit on the number of runs.

4

The dagger binds on pickup, so you need to farm it on the character who will wear the appearance.

5

Along with Blood Weeper, other gear from the Wrath of the Lich King era drops from the Forge of Souls bosses — you can collect a few more transmog pieces along the way.

6

For a rogue and a feral druid, the dagger is counted toward the appearance collection right after pickup; you do not have to equip it for that.

7

If you want a full "paired" look, keep in mind the lesser variant of the same blade — Bloody Weeper from the same boss.
