Overview

Цветущий острошип

Game iconBlooming Thornblade is an epic one-handed sword added in the Midnight expansion. It belongs to the "thorny" appearance line of Harandar: the blade seems to sprout spikes and living shoots, while the model's bioluminescent glow echoes the region's nature infected by lightbloom. Against the austere look of classic steel, it is a deliberately organic, "living" item.

By its stats it is a caster sword — it carries intellect and suits specializations that wield one-handed swords with intellect. For transmog the stats are irrelevant: what matters is that the appearance belongs to the fresh Midnight season and is still rarely seen on players.

The item is tradeable within the group until first use, and its item level is around 253–263 depending on the upgrade. Its base rank is Veteran gear of the "Champion" tier.

Source

The Blooming Thornblade drops from the world boss Thorm'belan — the third world boss of the first Midnight season.

  • Thorm'belan appears in the Harandar zone, in the southern part of the location at roughly the coordinates 39, 68.
  • This is an open world boss: it is fought by a raid crowd, and a separate group forms on its own at the spawn point.
  • For the victory you receive a guaranteed Veteran piece of gear of "Champion" rank, but the specific item from the shared loot pool is determined randomly — the sword itself may not drop on the first try.
  • Loot from this boss is limited to once per week for the whole group, so effectively it is a weekly attempt at the appearance you need.
  • The fight is tied to light: the boss hurls crystalline shards and drags players toward itself with shoots, but to farm the appearance it is enough to simply be in the raid at the moment of the kill.

Who it suits visually

  • The bioluminescent glow and plant motifs make the sword perfect for "nature" and druidic looks in a green-turquoise palette.
  • The blade ties in with the theme of Harandar and lightbloom infection, so it organically complements Midnight sets of the same season.
  • The spiky silhouette contrasts with strict plate armor — a debatable but expressive choice for dark armor, where the glowing blade becomes an accent.
  • Paired with Thorm'belan's kindred weapons it forms a cohesive set of a single style, with no visual mismatch.

Tips

1

Visit the boss every week: getting the specific sword is a lottery from the shared pool, and one attempt is usually not enough.

2

Catch Thorm'belan's spawn time: as an open world boss it is not active constantly, and it is more convenient to approach when a raid is already gathering at the spot.

3

In the same fight you can close out several appearances at once — inv_knife_1h_rutaani_b_01Skulking Nettledirk and inv_polearm_2h_rutaani_b_01Beastly Blossombarb drop from here too.

4

Gear is tradeable within the group until used, so an unneeded duplicate can be given to a character who has not unlocked the appearance yet.

5

The appearance is saved in the collection account-wide, so you do not need to farm the sword again for transmog on other characters.

6

Do not focus on the stats when collecting: for transmog only the fact of obtaining the item matters, and the stats here are secondary.
