Get Bow of Calamity
Overview

Bow of Calamity is a ranged bow that exists as a transmog illusion: the item is level 1 and is needed only for its appearance. When used, it adds this illusion for transmogrification to your warband's collection.
The appearance was introduced in the Battle for Azeroth expansion with patch 8.3, when Horrific Visions were added to the game. The model echoes the silhouette of a war bow with a massive wooden limb and metal wrapping. Because it is an illusion, once learned the appearance becomes available to every character on the account.
Source
The appearance is tied to the "Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar" scenario — a solo or group challenge against N'Zoth's spawn.
- The source is a corrupted chest that appears in the Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar after you clear the area.
- Expansion and patch — Battle for Azeroth, 8.3.
- The more vision areas you clear while under the effect of the faceless masks, the more rewards drop from the chests at the end of the run.
- Horrific Visions returned in an updated form in The War Within expansion, so the appearance can still be farmed today.
The vision currency is Corrupted Mementos in the original Battle for Azeroth version and Displaced Corrupted Mementos in the updated The War Within version. They are awarded for clearing a vision; vision vendors trade cosmetic rewards for these mementos.
Who It Suits Visually
- It fits hunter and ranger looks in dark, earthy tones.
- It harmonizes with leather and mail armor in brown, bronze, and grey shades.
- It is at home in "corrupted"-themed sets inspired by Horrific Visions and N'Zoth motifs.
- It contrasts with bright, ceremonial armor — a debatable but distinctive choice.
Tips
Bring faceless masks with you: they raise the vision's difficulty and increase the number of rewards from the chests.
Clear the optional vision areas in full — a complete clear is what drops the most loot.
The appearance can be previewed by all classes in the dressing room, but only hunters can actually equip the bow.
Because it is an illusion, you do not need to keep the item itself after learning it — the appearance stays in your warband's collection.
In the updated version of the visions in The War Within, stockpile Displaced Corrupted Mementos — vision vendors trade cosmetic rewards for them.
The scenario can be done solo, but your sanity reserve is limited, so upgrade your vision improvements in advance to have time to clear the areas.
