Get Brunnhildar Great Axe
Overview

The
Brunnhildar Great Axe is a two-handed battle axe from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is a massive vrykul weapon with a broad, crudely forged blade and a leather-wrapped haft. The model is built around a cold gray-steel palette and captures the harsh aesthetic of Northrend's icy tribes very well.
The weapon stands out not only for its look but also for its effect: while equipped, it adds a small amount of frost magic damage on every hit — the spell
Chilling Blow. Because of the item's low level, this effect lost its combat value long ago, and today the axe is interesting first and foremost as a transmog for looks in the spirit of northern savages and giant hunters.
Source
The axe is sold by the vendor Warsmith Sigfinna in the village of Brunnhildar in The Storm Peaks in Northrend. The vendor's coordinates are around 47.4, 70.4.
The key detail: you cannot simply walk into the village and buy the axe. Brunnhildar is a settlement of vrykul warrior women hostile to you, and you will not reach the merchants' stalls without a disguise. To gain access to them, you must complete the introductory Hyldnir quest chain: the local warrior women "adopt" you, grant you the appearance of a daughter of the tribe, and let you inside the village. Only under this guise do the merchants, including Warsmith Sigfinna, become available.
Key points of obtaining it:
- First, complete the Hyldnir quest chain in the western part of The Storm Peaks, which opens the entrance to the village and grants the appearance of a daughter of Brunnhildar.
- While the disguise is active, approach Warsmith Sigfinna and buy the axe for gold — it is an ordinary purchase, with no reputation or currency required.
- The item becomes soulbound when received, so it cannot be passed to other characters — but the appearance is unlocked in the transmogrification collection account-wide.
- The purchase can be repeated: if the appearance has already been learned, a second copy is not needed.
Who it suits visually
- Suits looks in the style of northern vrykul and Northrend tribes — the gray-steel palette harmonizes with plate and cold-toned leather.
- Pairs well with "barbarian" and "giant hunter" sets thanks to the crude forging and massive silhouette.
- Looks great on large races (tauren, draenei, orcs), where the axe's dimensions are emphasized by the character's height.
- Contrasts with bright gilded armor — a debatable but memorable choice for a "wild" look.
Tips
Before traveling for the axe, make sure The Storm Peaks is unlocked and that you have started the Wrath of the Lich King expansion storyline — without it the village will be unavailable.
The daughter of Brunnhildar disguise drops with a number of actions and when you leave the village area, so make the purchase without getting distracted by combat.
At level 90 the entire location and quests are completed solo with ease — there are no time or attempt limits.
If you only need the appearance, it is enough to buy the axe once and learn it through the transmogrification collection.
In a single visit it is worth grabbing the
Brunnhildar Harpoon and the
Brunnhildar Bow at once — three appearances in one trip.
The axe is not class-bound: any character who has completed the Hyldnir quests can buy it, and the appearance will be unlocked for all your heroes.
