Get Burnished Quel'Serrar
Overview

Burnished Quel'Serrar is a one-handed sword of epic quality and one of the most lore-rich blade models in the game. It is the "Higher Blade" — an ancient sword forged by night elves and dragons, famous all the way back from Classic.
The sword has its own soft greenish glow running along the blade, which is why weapon enchant visual effects do not show on it — the look stands on its own. It can be worn by warriors, paladins, death knights, and monks.
This version was introduced in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion (patch 3.2.2) and drops in the level-80 revamp of Onyxia's Lair. There are two more versions of the same blade sharing an identical model — more on that below.

Burnished Quel'Serrar drops from the raid's final boss — Onyxia in the Onyxia's Lair dungeon.
- The raid is located in the Dustwallow Marsh; the map reference to the entrance is the coordinates
/way 67.2 30.9. - This particular version of the sword drops in 25-player mode; the drop chance is roughly 3.2%.
- The 10-player version is a separate item with the same model,
Gleaming Quel'Serrar, with a drop chance of about 4%. - There are no entry prerequisites: the raid is long outdated and can be cleared solo in a couple of minutes.
- The appearance is slow to farm because of the low chance, so people usually run for the sword once a week until it drops.
Onyxia's Lair resets weekly, so for reliable farming it is worth entering both the 10-player and the 25-player mode every week — this doubles your attempts.
Who It Suits Visually
- Ideal for knight and paladin looks: the blade's noble silhouette with its green glow fits plate sets with holy and martial themes.
- It harmonizes with silvery and blue-and-gold armor, echoing the sword's elven-dragon origin.
- The blade's own green glow makes it expressive even without enchant effects — a good choice for looks with minimal flashy details.
- It suits lore-themed looks built around night elves and dragonflights thanks to the "Higher Blade" backstory.
- It contrasts with the dark armor of the Scourge and the Legion — a debatable but striking combination of light and darkness.
Tips
Farm both modes of Onyxia's Lair every week: the 10- and 25-player modes give separate items with the same model, which doubles your chances.
At max level the raid is cleared solo in mere minutes, so a weekly run takes almost no time.
If you want the appearance rather than a specific item, grab any of the three versions of the "Higher Blade" — they share a common model.
Warriors and paladins can also get the original Quel'Serrar from Classic through a quest chain — a reliable way to earn the look without raid farming.
The sword is wielded by warriors, paladins, death knights, and monks, so it makes sense to collect it across several characters of these classes at once.
Don't waste enchants on this blade for the effect: its own glow overrides the enchant visuals.
Once it drops, lock in the appearance at a transmogrifier right away to unlock it for one-handed swords.
