Get Calamitous Carrion mount
Overview

Calamitous Carrion is a black six-winged eagle from Zul'Aman, the reward for the Midnight Keystone Master: Season One achievement. This mount is available only during Midnight Season 1 and becomes unobtainable once the season ends. To earn it, you need to reach a Mythic+ rating of at least 2000 during the current season.
Visually, the mount is a massive black carrion bird styled after the Amani trolls. Dark plumage, a predatory silhouette and a distinctive combat posture make it stand out in any collection. There is also a white variant — the Convalescent Carrion — awarded for the Midnight Keystone Legend: Season One achievement at a rating of 3000 or higher.
Why earn this mount
- Exclusivity — the mount is available only during Midnight Season 1. Once the season ends, it can no longer be obtained.
- Status — owning the mount shows that you cleared every dungeon of the season at a high enough difficulty.
- Flying and ground mount — suitable for any kind of travel, with speed scaling to your riding skill.
- Unique model — a black six-winged eagle styled after Zul'Aman. No other mount in the game looks quite like it.
How Mythic+ rating works
Your Mythic+ rating is the sum of the points you earn for clearing every dungeon in the season. For each dungeon you gain points based on the key level and how fast you complete the run.
Base points per key level
| Key level | Points |
|---|---|
| +2 | 40 |
| +3 | 45 |
| +4 | 55 |
| +5 | 60 |
| +6 | 65 |
| +7 | 75 |
| +8 | 80 |
| +9 | 85 |
| +10 | 100 |
| +11 and higher | +5 per level |
Affix multipliers
For each dungeon your two best runs count — one on the Fortified affix and one on Tyrannical. The better run gets a 150% multiplier and the second one gets 50%. Your final rating is the sum of the points across all eight dungeons.
In practice this means: if you clear every dungeon around +6/+7 on both affixes, you will gather roughly 2000 points. You do not need to push high keys — steady completions at mid levels are perfectly enough.
Midnight Season 1 dungeons
The Mythic+ rotation features 8 dungeons: 4 new ones from Midnight and 4 from previous expansions.
New Midnight dungeons
| Dungeon | Description |
|---|---|
| Windrunner Spire | A new dungeon in Quel'Thalas |
| Magisters' Terrace | A dungeon on the Isle of Quel'Danas |
| Maisara Caverns | A dungeon in the Zul'Aman area |
| Nexus-Point Xenas | A new dungeon in the Voidstorm |
Dungeons from previous expansions
| Dungeon | Original expansion |
|---|---|
| Algeth'ar Academy | Dragonflight |
| Pit of Saron | Wrath of the Lich King |
| The Seat of the Triumvirate | Legion |
| Skyreach | Warlords of Draenor |
The dungeon rotation does not change during the season, so you can learn the routes and tactics for each one in advance.
Step-by-step mount guide
Step 1: Prepare your character
Before heading into Mythic+, make sure your character is ready:
- Item level: at least 250+ is recommended for comfortably clearing +5 keys and higher.
- Talents: use the current Mythic+ build for your class and specialization.
- Consumables: potions, flasks, healthstones and augment runes all improve your chances of finishing in time.
- Addons: Mythic Dungeon Tools (routes), Details! (metrics) and WeakAuras (mechanic tracking) are recommended.
Step 2: Get your first keystone
After completing any dungeon on Mythic difficulty you receive a +2 keystone. From that moment the Mythic+ system is open for your character.
Step 3: Build up your rating
The optimal rating-farming strategy:
- Clear all 8 dungeons at least on +2 — this gives you a baseline rating across every dungeon.
- Gradually raise the key levels — close out +4, +5 and +6 in each dungeon.
- Alternate the affixes — run dungeons on both the Fortified and the Tyrannical week. Both results count toward your rating.
- Target level — +6/+7 across all dungeons on both affixes. That is enough for a rating of 2000.
Step 4: Earn the achievement and the mount
Once your rating reaches 2000, the Midnight Keystone Master: Season One achievement is credited automatically. The
Calamitous Carrion mount will appear in your collection.
Tips and recommendations
Choosing a class and role
Tanks and healers find groups significantly faster than damage dealers. If you have a character with a tank or healer specialization, it will save you hours of waiting in the group finder.
Don't chase high keys
A common mistake is trying to close the highest possible key. For a rating of 2000 it is enough to steadily run +6/+7. It is better to finish a +6 in time than to fail a +9.
Learn every dungeon
Before going into a key, study:
- The clearing route (the optimal order of mob packs)
- The boss mechanics that are critical at your key level
- The dangerous mob abilities that need to be interrupted
Play regularly
The season is time-limited. Don't put off building your rating until the final weeks — toward the end of the season the pool of active players shrinks, and finding a group at the right level becomes harder.
The weekly chest
In addition to rating, running Mythic+ fills your weekly chest (Great Vault). For 1, 4 and 8 runs per week you receive 1, 2 and 3 reward choices respectively. A +10 key grants item level 266 gear from the chest, and +12 grants up to 272.
The Season 1 affix system
Midnight Season 1 uses a reworked affix system:
- Lindormi's Guidance — a supportive mechanic for +2 to +4 keys that helps newcomers get used to running dungeons against the clock.
- Xal'atath's Bargain — rotating weekly affixes for +5 to +11 keys that grant buffs or hindrances:
- Ascendant
- Voidbound
- Pulsar
- Devour
Each of these affixes requires group coordination: interrupting casts, dispelling effects and correct positioning. Before the week starts, check which affix is active and adapt your tactics.
Season timeline
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Midnight Season 1 start | March 17, 2026 |
| Mythic+ keystones unlock | March 24, 2026 |
| Expected season end | June 23, 2026 |
You have roughly 3 months to earn the mount. With regular play (3–5 dungeons per week) most players reach a rating of 2000 in 3–5 weeks.
