Get Cane of the Runic Wanderer
Overview

Cane of the Runic Wanderer is a two-handed staff added to World of Warcraft in patch 11.1.7. It is a purely cosmetic item: when used, it instantly adds the appearance to the transmogrification collection of your entire account, with no stats and no combat value.
The model is built around Vrykul mysticism — a long shaft with a carved finial wrapped in runes that gleam with a cold light. The calm grey-blue palette and the emphasis on runic detailing make the staff a versatile prop for the looks of priests, mages, and shamans who lean toward a northern, Nordic aesthetic. The item quality is Epic, but in this case it is specifically an appearance, not a piece of equipment.
Source
The staff is sold by a vendor — it is not a drop and not a quest reward, but a purchase made with the currency of the Timewalking event.
- Vendor — Aridormi, the Legion Timewalking quartermaster.
- Location — Dalaran above the Broken Isles, next to the flight master.
- Price — 1500 units of the Timewarped Badge currency.
- Availability — only while the Legion Timewalking event is active (it rotates weekly with other expansions).
- Binding — the appearance is added to the account collection, meaning it becomes available to every character on the account.
Timewarped Badges drop from dungeon and raid bosses while the Timewalking event is active, and are also granted for the week's themed quests. Saving up the required amount is easy over a couple of runs, so the main limitation is simply waiting for the Legion week itself.
Who it suits visually
- Harmonizes with cold grey-blue looks — for example, the cloth sets of Nordic-style mages and priests.
- Fits shaman concepts well thanks to the runic detailing of the finial.
- Suits "wintry" and "icy" sets thanks to the cool glow of the runes.
- Contrasts with warm golden armor, providing an accent staff in calm tones.
- Appropriate for the looks of a wanderer and a keeper of ancient knowledge — a direct nod to the item's name.
Tips
Keep an eye on the Timewalking schedule: the appearance can only be bought during the Legion week, when Aridormi is available and active.
Stockpile Timewarped Badges in advance during any Timewalking week — the currency is shared across all expansions of the event.
The fastest way to gather the currency is to run Timewalking dungeons, whose bosses reliably drop badges.
The purchase is needed only once: the appearance unlocks immediately for the whole account and all eligible classes.
If you are short on badges, check the event's weekly quest — it grants a large one-time payout of currency.
Before buying, make sure you are not confusing the cane with old staves of the same name: the item you want was added in the modern patch and is sold only by the Timewalking quartermaster.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
