Captured Dune Scavenger

Captured Dune Scavenger is a ground mount in the form of a tan hyena, added in the Battle for Azeroth expansion (patch 8.0). This mount drops from sethrak enemies in the Vol'dun zone (Zandalar) and is a rare random trophy with an extremely low chance to obtain.

The item has the "Binds when used" status, meaning it can be sold or bought on the auction house. The mount is available to characters of both factions and is account-wide.

• Collecting. The Dune Scavenger is one of the few hyena models available as a mount. The model features a unique summon animation (a howl) and a special jump animation.
• Gold earning. Thanks to its BoE status and rarity, the item consistently sells on the auction house for substantial amounts of gold.
• Aesthetics. The hyena's tan coloring pairs well with desert themes and Zandalar-style transmogrification.

For the Horde:

1. Travel to Zandalar through the portal in the Horde capital (Orgrimmar).
2. From Dazar'alor, use a flight path to the nearest outpost in Vol'dun — Vulpera Hideaway.

For the Alliance:

1. Reach Zandalar through the portal from Boralus.
2. Use a flight path or fly directly to Vol'dun if you have previously unlocked flight points in this zone.

In current versions of the game, high-level characters move easily into Vol'dun via the flight system.

Captured Dune Scavenger is a zone trophy that drops from various sethrak NPCs throughout Vol'dun. There is no specific NPC source — the item can drop from any hostile sethrak in the zone.

Drop chance: according to community data, it is approximately 1 in 3,000–5,000 kills (around 0.02–0.03%). It is one of the rarest trophy mounts of the Battle for Azeroth expansion.

1. Character preparation. Take any high-level character. For solo farming, absolutely any class and specialization will do, since enemies in Vol'dun are significantly lower in level and die in a single hit.

2. Arriving in Vol'dun. Use the flight system or a portal to reach the zone. Make sure you have flying unlocked in Zandalar so you can move freely through the air.

3. Choosing a farming location. Head to one of the recommended spots (see the "Farming Optimization" section).

4. Mass-killing sethrak. Gather groups of enemies and destroy them with AoE abilities. Collect all the loot — the Captured Dune Scavenger item may be among the trophies.

5. Checking your loot. The mount goes straight into your inventory when you loot a slain enemy. Pay attention to purple (epic) items.

6. Using or selling. Right-click the item to learn the mount, or put it up on the auction house.

Best Locations

Shrine of the Faithful — coordinates roughly 27, 53. Here you will find a large cluster of Faithless sethrak besieging the temple. Enemies respawn quickly, making this spot an excellent place to farm.

Terrace of the Faithful — coordinates roughly 34, 63. Another area with a dense concentration of sethrak. Convenient for a circular route.

Bonepit — coordinates roughly 50, 44 (north of Vulpera Hideaway). Various Faithless are found here, and the spot is located near an outpost for quick repairs and selling junk.

War Mode

Turn off War Mode while farming. Vol'dun is Horde territory, and Alliance characters with War Mode enabled will have to contend with hostile players, which slows down the process.
