Cerulean Ruinstrider
Overview

Reins of the Cerulean Ruinstrider is an epic ground mount added to World of Warcraft in the Legion expansion (patch 7.3.0, August 2017). It is one of six ruinstrider talbuks available from the quartermaster of the Argussian Reach faction aboard the Vindicaar. The cerulean ruinstrider stands out with its rich sky-blue coloring and long branching antlers, making it one of the most distinctive talbuks in the game.
Unlike rare drops, this mount is guaranteed to the player after meeting one simple condition: reach Exalted with the Argussian Reach and pay 10,000 gold to Toraan the Revered. This makes it an ideal choice for collectors who prefer predictable farming over random dice rolls.
Why You Want This Mount
- Guaranteed acquisition — no drop percentages. Grind your reputation to Exalted, save up the gold, and claim the mount. No reliance on luck
- Part of a six-talbuk collection — alongside the cerulean one, the same quartermaster sells five more Argussian ruinstriders in other colors.
- Beautiful, unique model — Argussian ruinstriders look distinct from Draenor talbuks: a more muscular build, long curved antlers, and unusual color schemes that reflect the shattered world of Argus
- Account-wide access — once purchased, the mount unlocks for all your characters regardless of faction or class
- Solo content at max level — all Argus quests at level 90 can be completed solo in just a few minutes, even without full gear
Requirements and Prerequisites
To buy the cerulean ruinstrider, you need to unlock access to Argus and then grind reputation with the Argussian Reach up to Exalted.
- Character level: technically 45+, but the content scales, and at level 80 everything is a breeze
- Legion intro quest chain: start with the quest A Found Memento and follow it through to the landing on the Broken Shore
- Broken Shore storyline: complete the "Assault on Broken Shore" campaign and unlock world quests in the zone
- Patch 7.3 prologue: complete the intro scenario The Vindicaar and reach Argus via the Exodar
- Argus story campaign: progress through all three zones in order — Krokuun, Mac'Aree, and the Antoran Wastes. Reputation with the Argussian Reach rises automatically over the course of this campaign
After completing the main storyline, you'll be at roughly Friendly or Honored with the faction. The remaining path to Exalted must be covered through world quests and weekly activities.
How to Reach the Vindicaar and Toraan
The Vindicaar is the hub ship that hosts all of the Argus content. After completing the patch 7.3 intro quest, head to the portal to the ship via the Exodar. This is the mandatory route the first time you travel to Argus
Aboard the Vindicaar, head up to the upper deck — Toraan the Revered stands alongside the other quartermasters.
Step-by-Step Acquisition Guide
Step 1. Unlock Access to Argus
If you've never played through patch 7.3, start with the Legion storyline and follow it through to landing on Argus. At max character level, all scenarios can be done in a single run and take 1–2 hours in total.
Step 2. Complete the Argus Story Campaign
The campaign consists of three zones:
- Krokuun — the intro zone, an introduction to the Vindicaar and your first allies
- Mac'Aree — the zone of surviving eredar and a hidden school of magic
- Antoran Wastes — the final zone, preparing for the Antorus raid
Over the course of the campaign you'll earn around 8,000–10,000 reputation points with the Argussian Reach. Once finished, world quests and invasion points become available.
Step 3. Farm Argus World Quests
This is the main way to grind reputation. Each world quest in the Argus zones grants reputation with both the Argussian Reach and the Army of the Light at the same time.
| Quest Type | Argussian Reach Reputation |
|---|---|
| Regular world quest | 75 |
| Rare elite world quest | 150 |
| Emissary bonus (4 quests) | 1,500 |
| Weekly Fuel of a Doomed World | 1,000 |
| Weekly Invasion Onslaught | 1,000 |
Check the Argus map daily — the set of world quests changes every day.
Step 4. Run Invasion Points
Invasion points are mini-scenarios in orbit around Argus, launched from the Vindicaar's navigation console. For every major invasion point you earn a chest with reputation and a chance at gear items. Minor points take 2–3 minutes and are great to knock out in the background.
Step 5. Supplement Your Grind with the Dungeon Quest
Defeating L'ura in the The Seat of the Triumvirate dungeon grants 250 reputation points per week and counts toward the weekly quest.
Step 6. Buy the Mount from Toraan
When the reputation bar reads Exalted, head to the Vindicaar. From Toraan the Revered, select
Reins of the Cerulean Ruinstrider in the mounts section and pay 10,000 gold. The mount goes straight into your collection.
The Full Argussian Ruinstrider Collection
While you're on the Vindicaar, it's worth considering the other five ruinstriders too — they're all available at Exalted from the same quartermaster.
The total cost of the full collection is 60,000 gold.
Bonus Seventh Ruinstrider
A seventh option —
Bleakhoof Ruinstrider — is handed out for free for earning the achievement ...And Chew Mana Buns, which requires killing 2,000 demons on Argus. In practice, this counter fills itself over the course of grinding reputation.
Optimizing Reputation Farming
Daily Routine
- Check the active Argussian Reach world quests across all three Argus zones
- See who today's emissary is. If it's the Argussian Reach, that's a guaranteed 1,500 points for 4 quests
- Launch 2–3 invasion points from the navigation console
- Once a week, complete the Fuel of a Doomed World quest and run the Seat of the Triumvirate
How Long Exalted Takes
With active completion of every available quest, Exalted is reached in 3–4 weeks. If you only play the emissaries and weekly quests, it takes 6–8 weeks. The exact timing depends on how often the Argussian Reach emissary comes up (once every 3–5 days).
Farming on Alts
Argussian Reach reputation is individual to each character, but once one character reaches Exalted, all other alts earn doubled reputation. If you plan to collect all six mounts (each goes into the account collection once), a single maxed character is enough.
Tips and Practical Notes
- Class doesn't matter — at max level, any Argus quest takes a couple of minutes. The optimal pick is a class with constant movement speed (druid, monk, rogue) to save time between points
- Use Argus skips — the Antorus scenario can be skipped from the navigation console straight to the zone you need, without wasting time on flights
- Watch for rare elite quests — they give twice the reputation and have a small chance to drop toys, pets, and rare mounts
- A six-mount collection in one week of Exalted — if you're already at Exalted, you can buy all six colors in a single run, earning the achievement and a bonus collector's title right away
- The mount works everywhere — the Argussian ruinstrider is an ordinary ground mount and rides in any zone where ground travel is allowed
