Overview

Chauffeured Chopper

Chauffeured Chopper is a ground motorcycle mount added in patch 6.1.0. The main feature of this ride is that it is available from level 1 and requires no riding skill. Your character sits in the side car while a personal chauffeur takes the wheel — the NPC Koak Hoburn (for the Horde) or Franklin Martin (for the Alliance). You still have full control over the movement.

The mount is account-bound: once you earn it, you can use the motorcycle on every character on your account.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Available from level 1 — the only mount in the game you can use right after creating a character, without learning riding skill
  • Perfect for leveling alts — a new character gets a movement speed boost from the first minutes of play
  • Two designs — the Chauffeured Mekgineer's Chopper for the Alliance and the Chauffeured Mechano-Hog for the Horde
  • Fun animation — your character sits in the passenger side car while the NPC chauffeur drives the motorcycle
  • 170% speed — a fixed movement speed that does not depend on riding skill

Requirements

  • A character of any level (the mount is available from level 1)
  • The Heirloom Hoarder achievement — collect 35 heirlooms in your heirloom collection
  • Riding skill is not required
  • Gold or alternative currencies to buy heirlooms

Where to Buy Heirlooms

Heirlooms are sold by several NPCs. Below are the main vendors and their locations.

Main Vendors (for gold)

These NPCs sell most heirlooms — weapons, chests, shoulders, necklaces, and some accessories.

Alliance — Krom Stoutarm

Located in the Hall of Explorers in Ironforge:

/way 74.5 9.8 Krom Stoutarm

Horde — Estelle Gendry

Located at the gates of Orgrimmar:

/way 57.0 90.0 Estelle Gendry

Guild Vendors (for gold)

Helms, cloaks, and leggings are bought from guild vendors. Buying helms requires Friendly reputation with your guild.

  • Alliance — Shay Pressler, Stormwind, Visitor's Center
  • Horde — Goram, Orgrimmar, Valley of Strength

Darkmoon Faire Vendor (for tickets)

Daenrand Dawncrest sells heirlooms for Darkmoon Prize Tickets. The Faire runs during the first week of every month.

Argent Tournament Vendor (for seals)

Dame Evniki Kapsalis at the Argent Tournament Grounds in Icecrown sells heirlooms for Champion's Seals.

/way 69.8 23.2 Argent Tournament

PvP Heirlooms (for Marks of Honor)

Some accessories and weapons are bought with Marks of Honor — a currency earned from PvP activities.

Step-by-Step Guide to Getting the Mount

Step 1 — Open Your Heirloom Collection

Press Shift+P (or open the collection from the menu) and go to the Heirlooms tab. Here you will see all available heirlooms and the ones already in your collection.

Step 2 — Check Your Progress

The top-right corner of the Heirlooms tab shows a counter of collected items. You need to gather 35 to earn the achievement.

Step 3 — Buy the Missing Items

The fastest way is to buy them with gold from the main vendors. A single heirloom costs 500 to 750 gold (without upgrades). Collecting 35 heirlooms will take roughly 17,000–26,000 gold.

Recommended buying order:

  1. Weapons — from the main gold vendor (650 to 750 gold each)
  2. Chests and shoulders — from the main gold vendor (500 gold each)
  3. Accessories — necklaces and trinkets from the main vendor
  4. Cloaks and helms — from the guild vendor

Step 4 — Claim the Mount

As soon as the counter reaches 35, you automatically earn the Heirloom Hoarder achievement. After that, check your mailbox — you will receive a letter from Oglethorpe Obnoticus with a Clinking Present attached. Open it and use the Chauffeured Chopper to add the mount to your collection.

Step 5 — Summon the Mount

Open your Mount Journal (Shift+P, Mounts tab) and find the Chauffeured Mekgineer's Chopper (Alliance) or the Chauffeured Mechano-Hog (Horde). The mount can be used on any character, including freshly created ones.

Optimizing the Grind

  • Buying with gold is the fastest path. With 20,000–25,000 gold you can get the mount in a few minutes from a single vendor.
  • Don't buy upgrades if the mount is your only goal. Base heirlooms are cheaper, and the achievement counter credits the item itself, not its upgrade level.
  • Combine sources. If you are short on gold, use Darkmoon Prize Tickets, Champion's Seals, and Marks of Honor.
  • Check what you already have. Some heirlooms may have been obtained from old content — check your collection before buying.
  • Factor in the Darkmoon Faire. If the Faire is only a few days away, you can wait for it and save gold by buying some items with tickets.

Additional Tips

  • The mount appears in the Mount Journal as two separate mounts — one for each faction. Both are added to your collection automatically.
  • Pandaren cannot use this mount until they choose a faction after leaving the Wandering Isle.
  • The mount's speed is fixed at 170%. It does not scale with riding skill.
  • The Chauffeured Chopper is a ground-only mount. It does not fly.
  • If the mount does not arrive in the mail after you earn the achievement, log out and back in and check your mailbox again.
