Chittering Animite
Overview

Chittering Animite is an epic flying mount added to World of Warcraft in the Shadowlands expansion (patch 9.0.2). It is an unusual insect-like creature from Zereth Mortis, known for its ability to draw anima from its surroundings.
The mount is a guaranteed drop for successfully completing the Campaign: Final Riddle mission on the covenant adventure table — a maximum level 60 mission available in any of the four Shadowlands covenants.
Why You Want This Mount
- Unique model — animites do not appear among ordinary mounts, and their appearance differs greatly from standard flying creatures. This is an exclusive model tied to the lore of Zereth Mortis
- Guaranteed reward — unlike many collectible mounts with a low drop chance, the
Chittering Animite drops with a 100% probability upon successfully completing the mission. Randomness is eliminated - Flying on every continent — the mount supports flight in all zones where flying mounts are allowed, including the Shadowlands, Zereth Mortis, and modern regions after unlocking flight
- Available to any covenant — unlike covenant-exclusive mounts, this reward is granted regardless of your choice: Kyrian, Necrolords, Night Fae, or Venthyr
How to Obtain
Obtaining the
Chittering Animite is a multi-stage process tied to the Shadowlands covenant adventure system. At the maximum level 90 of the Midnight expansion, all stages are completed noticeably faster than at the original 60.
- Level your character to 60 and choose any covenant in Revendreth, Bastion, Maldraxxus, or Ardenweald
- Unlock the command table in your Covenant Sanctum. The upgrade costs at least 1000 Anima and 1 Redeemed Soul
- Complete the covenant's starter quest introducing the adventure table
- Gather followers: 3 soulbinds, 6 unique companions through renown levels and covenant tasks, and several more found in Torghast
- Complete missions with the "Adventure Campaign Progress" icon — you need to complete at least 16 such missions in total to unlock the final mount adventures
- Wait for the Campaign: Final Riddle mission to appear in the adventure table rotation
- Assemble a party of suitable followers and send them on the mission. After a successful completion, claim the

Requirements and Preparation
The Campaign: Final Riddle mission is an encounter with level 60 enemies on the adventure table. As of Midnight, the table's mechanics remain unchanged: battles play out in offline mode, but team selection and placement directly affect the outcome.
Enemy Composition in the Mission
| Enemy | Count | Trait |
|---|---|---|
| Devoted Soldier | 2 | Tank units, deal moderate melee damage |
| Loyal Caretaker | 1 | Support, able to heal allies |
| Arrogant Noble | 1 | Ranged unit with spells |
| Archivist Ionatha | 1 | Mission boss, deals area-of-effect damage |
What You Will Need Before Launching
- Follower level 60 — baseline, but ideally fully leveled epic and legendary companions
- Follower gear — soulbinds must be equipped: the success chance directly depends on their items
- Anima reservoir — sending the mission requires a supply of anima in the Covenant Sanctum
- Unlocked campaign adventures — at least 16 previous missions with the campaign progress icon
How to Prepare for the Mission
Mission success depends on careful placement of followers and their abilities. Companions are arranged in a 2×4 grid, and position affects which enemies attack your units first.
- Level all followers to 60 by repeating easier missions
- Check each fighter's weapon and armor. New gear can be obtained from adventure chests and weekly rewards
- Use "tank + healer + damage" combinations: Chec Qui-Mo, Kleia, Pelagos, Meatball, and Mikanikos are often named as reliable party members for the final missions
- Plan placement with the Venture Plan addon — it simulates the battle and shows the probability of victory
- Do not launch the mission blindly: if the calculation shows a failure, reshuffle the lineup or raise the gear level
Party Preparation
- Keep at least two tanks with high health and defense values
- Include a healer in the team — the mission is long, and a single healer may not manage on their own
- Split your damage dealers between melee and ranged to break through different enemy positions
- Keep an anima reserve: retries after a failure will require a new dispatch
Farming Optimization
Campaign Completion Order
Campaign missions come in a specific order. After 16 completed adventures with campaign progress, four final mount missions open up:
- Campaign: Final Riddle — reward:
Chittering Animite - Campaign: End the Darkmaze — reward:
Darkwarren Hardshell - Campaign: Corpsefly Catastrophe — reward: a battle pet item
- Campaign: The Captain's Reckoning — reward:
Highwind Darkmane
The missions appear one at a time and do not return until you complete the current one. This means obtaining all four mounts in a single campaign is possible, but it takes time and preparation.
Speeding Up Progress
- Parallel follower leveling — send all available fighters on short experience quests while you handle the main game
- Daily check of the command table — missions refresh regularly, so don't miss the resets
- Venture Plan addon — automates selection, remembers successful lineups, and suggests substitutions
- Max-level alts — at level 90 in Midnight, the early campaign stages go faster than at the launch of Shadowlands
Tips
Do not switch covenants in the middle of the campaign — when you switch covenants, adventure table progress does not carry over, and you will have to gather followers from scratch. Wait until you receive the mount and only then experiment
Upgrade the Sanctum through the Anima Reservoir — the higher the command table level, the more simultaneous missions you can run and the less time the campaign will take
Do not rush to the finale — the Campaign: Final Riddle mission requires fully leveled followers. If you take it on with an incomplete team, you will fail the adventure and lose resources
Farm Torghast in parallel — most followers are unlocked specifically in Torghast on various floors and wings. Combine acquiring them with farming Soul Ash
The mount is account-wide after obtaining — once one character receives the Chittering Animite, it appears in the mount collection of all your characters, regardless of faction and class
Check the mission rotation — the final missions appear in a specific order. If you have already gotten one of the mounts, the next in the queue will be another of the four
