Overview

Cindermane Charger

Cindermane Charger is a striking fiery steed forged by Ragnaros the Firelord himself. This mount combines ground and flying modes: on the ground it appears as a blazing warhorse, while in the air it unfurls hidden fiery wings. The Cindermane Charger was added to the game in the Warlords of Draenor expansion and was originally an exclusive reward from the Recruit A Friend program.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Unique model — a fiery horse with a blazing mane and hidden wings that unfold in flight
  • Ragnaros lore — according to its description, the steed was created by Ragnaros "as a gift for the daughter he never had"
  • Versatility — works as both a ground and a flying mount, adapting to your riding skill
  • Collector's value — a former Recruit A Friend exclusive, which makes it recognizable and prestigious

Mount Source

The Cindermane Charger has several sources that have changed over time:

Recruit A Friend program (no longer available)

The mount was originally available as a Recruit A Friend reward from February 27, 2015 to June 11, 2019. To get it, you had to recruit a friend to World of Warcraft, and once your recruit paid for a subscription, you received the Cindermane Charger as a reward. In June 2019, the Recruit A Friend program was overhauled with new rewards, and the Cindermane Charger was no longer obtainable this way.

Trading Post — the current method

Since June 2023, the Cindermane Charger has periodically appeared in the Trading Post rotation. The cost is 900 Trader's Tender. The mount has appeared in the Trading Post during the following periods:

Period Cost
June 2023 900 Trader's Tender
August 2024 900 Trader's Tender

The Trading Post regularly refreshes its inventory, and items return to the rotation. If the Cindermane Charger is currently unavailable, it will appear in one of the future Trading Post updates.

Requirements

  • A character at level 10 or higher (the minimum level for using mounts)
  • Apprentice Riding skill — for ground travel
  • Flying skill in the relevant zones — to use the flying mode
  • The mount is bound to your Battle.net account — available to all characters on your account

How to Get the Cindermane Charger

Through the Trading Post (recommended method)

  1. Make sure the Cindermane Charger is in the current Trading Post rotation. You can check the inventory in-game.
  2. Save up 900 Trader's Tender. Tender can be obtained:
    • 500 Tender — automatically at the start of each month for an active subscription
    • Up to 1,000 additional Tender — for completing monthly activities in the Traveler's Log
  3. Visit the Trading Post in Stormwind (Alliance) or Orgrimmar (Horde)
  4. Find the Cindermane Charger in the mounts section and purchase it for 900 Tender
  5. The mount will automatically appear in your collection and be available to all characters

If the mount isn't in the current rotation

If the Cindermane Charger isn't currently featured in the Trading Post, all you can do is wait for its return. Blizzard periodically brings items back into the rotation. We recommend:

  • Keeping an eye on the monthly Trading Post updates
  • Saving up enough Trader's Tender in advance so you don't miss your chance
  • Not spending Tender on lower-priority items if the Cindermane Charger is your main goal

Tips and Tricks

  • Save up Tender in advance. If you want the Cindermane Charger, keep a reserve of 900+ Trader's Tender so you can buy the mount the moment it appears in the Trading Post. The rotation refreshes at the start of each month.
  • Complete Traveler's Log activities. This is the main way to earn Trader's Tender beyond the monthly bonus. Activities include PvE, PvP, quests and other in-game tasks.
  • Hidden wings are a model feature. On the ground the mount looks like an ordinary warhorse on fire. The fiery wings only unfold on takeoff — it's one of the most spectacular animations among horse mounts.
  • The Recruit A Friend program no longer grants this mount. If you see old guides offering to get the Cindermane Charger through RAF, that information is outdated. Since June 2019, the only way to get it is the Trading Post.
