Overview

Cloudwing Hippogryph

Game iconCloudwing Hippogryph is an epic flying mount added in patch 7.2.0 "Tomb of Sargeras." It is a graceful hippogryph with cloud-blue plumage and golden accents that dwells in the mountain caves of Azsuna high above the cloud line. The mount drops with a small chance from the Game iconFarondis Chest — the reward for completing the quest Supplies from the Court of Farondis.

The Cloudwing Hippogryph stands apart from most hippogryphs in the game thanks to its unique coloring — turquoise-blue feathers with golden inlays that evoke skyward clouds at sunset. The mount model is an updated version of the hippogryph with detailed textures and smooth flight animation.

Why You Want This Mount

  • Rarity — the Cloudwing Hippogryph drops with a small chance (around 3%) from the Farondis Chest, making it a notable mount in any collection.
  • Unique coloring — among all hippogryphs in the game, this model stands out with its cloud-blue plumage and golden details.
  • Flying mount — works both on the ground and in the air, available with the Apprentice riding skill.
  • Available to all characters — once learned, the mount appears in the collection of every character on your account.
  • No high level required — level 10 is enough to use it.

How to Obtain

To get the mount you must reach Exalted reputation with the Court of Farondis and keep gaining reputation to earn chests.

  1. Head to Azsuna on the Broken Isles.
  2. Complete the main Azsuna storyline — it grants a significant amount of reputation and unlocks world quests.
  3. Grind reputation with the Court of Farondis to Exalted (84,000 points total).
  4. Keep gaining reputation. For every 10,000 points beyond Exalted you receive the quest Supplies from the Court of Farondis.
  5. Collect the Game iconFarondis Chest from Veridis Fallon in the Ruined Palace.
  6. Open the chest — with a small chance the Game iconCloudwing Hippogryph will be inside.
  7. If the mount does not drop, keep gaining reputation and opening new chests.

Grinding Reputation with the Court of Farondis

To reach Exalted you must earn 84,000 reputation points, after which every 10,000 additional points yields a paragon chest.

Story Quests (First Stage)

The main Azsuna campaign is the largest one-time source of reputation. Completing the entire quest chain grants enough points to reach Honored or close to it.

World Quests (Main Source)

World quests in Azsuna are the main regular source of reputation. Each quest gives between 50 and 350 points depending on difficulty. Quests refresh every few hours, so check the map several times a day.

Emissary Quests

When the Court of Farondis emissary quest is active, complete four faction world quests and collect the reward from Veridis Fallon — 1,500 reputation points.

Eye of Azshara Dungeon

Killing the final boss in the Eye of Azshara dungeon grants 250 reputation with the Court of Farondis.

Insignias

  • Insignia of the Court of Farondis — grants 250 reputation. Drops from treasure chests on the Broken Isles and from class hall missions
  • Greater Insignia of the Court of Farondis — grants 750 reputation
  • Kirin Tor emissary — when completing four Kirin Tor world quests you can choose an Insignia of the Court of Farondis for 1,500 points

Reputation Boosters

  • Darkmoon Faire — ride the carousel to gain the "WHEE!" buff (+10% reputation for 60 minutes)
  • World Quest Bonus Event — +50% reputation from world quests during the event week
  • Banner of Cooperation — guild bonus of +10% reputation
  • Darkmoon Top Hat — +10% reputation for 60 minutes

Optimizing the Farm

Daily Plan

At max character level, Legion content is completed quickly. The optimal order of actions:

  1. Check whether the Court of Farondis emissary is active — if so, prioritize that faction's world quests
  2. Complete all available Court of Farondis world quests in Azsuna
  3. Run the Eye of Azshara dungeon for an extra 250 points
  4. Send out class hall missions for insignias
  5. Check whether the Kirin Tor emissary is available — choose the Court of Farondis insignia

How Long It Will Take

Reaching Exalted with active grinding takes roughly 2–3 weeks. After that the paragon chest farm begins. With a drop chance of around 3% you may need anywhere from 20 to 50 chests, which corresponds to 200,000–500,000 reputation points beyond Exalted. On average this takes from a few weeks to several months depending on farming intensity and luck.

Multiple Characters

You can speed up obtaining the mount by grinding reputation on several characters at once. Each character earns its own paragon chests, and once learned the mount becomes available account-wide.

How to Get to Azsuna

First Visit

  1. Head to Dalaran on the Broken Isles — use your hearthstone if it is set to Dalaran, or take a portal from your faction's capital
  2. Pick up the starter quest in Dalaran, which directs you to Azsuna
  3. If your character is below level 50, first talk to Chromie and choose the Legion timeline

Quick Access

After your first visit, use the "Ruined Palace" flight point in Azsuna to travel quickly to the quartermaster.

Tips

1

Don't skip the story — the main Azsuna campaign gives a large one-time reputation bonus and unlocks world quests, without which efficient grinding is impossible.

2

Check the map several times a day — world quests refresh at intervals of a few hours. If you log in only once a day, you may miss some of the available quests.

3

Combine with the Darkmoon Faire — the carousel buff lasts 60 minutes and increases reputation gained by 10%. Visit the faire before starting your quests.

4

Use the Kirin Tor emissary — when the Kirin Tor emissary appears, always choose the Court of Farondis insignia for an extra 1,500 points.

5

Don't forget the class hall — missions for insignias give passive reputation. Send them out every time you log in.

6

Stock up on patience — with a low chest drop chance the farm may drag on.

7

Level up several characters — paragon chests are available on each character separately. The more characters take part in the farm, the higher your overall chances of getting the mount.

8

Watch for bonus events — the world quest event significantly speeds up reputation gains.
