Cobalt War Talbuk

The Cobalt War Talbuk is an epic ground mount added in The Burning Crusade expansion (patch 2.0.1). It is a graceful horned beast clad in cobalt war armor, native to the plains of Nagrand in Outland. The mount is purchased from Provisioner Nasela in Garadar (Horde) or from Trader Narasu in Telaar (Alliance) for 100 gold at Exalted reputation with the Mag'har (Horde) or the Kurenai (Alliance).

The Cobalt War Talbuk is one of eight talbuks available in Nagrand. War talbuks differ from the regular riding models by their massive armor and more aggressive stance. The cobalt coloring makes this mount especially striking: dark blue armor with a metallic sheen stands out against the green plains of Nagrand.

• Guaranteed acquisition — the mount is bought from a vendor at a fixed price. No RNG and no endless boss kills hoping for a drop.
• Low cost — just 100 gold (80 with the automatic Exalted discount). This is one of the most affordable prices among reputation-locked mounts.
• Unique model — talbuks are endemic to Nagrand and are found nowhere else in the game. The cobalt coloring is the rarest among the war variants.
• Available to all characters — once purchased, the mount becomes available on every character on your account.
• Collection value — it is part of the set of eight Nagrand talbuks. Mount collectors aim to gather the entire line.
• Fast farming at high level — at max level, grinding the reputation takes only a few hours thanks to instant ogre kills.

To purchase the mount you must reach Exalted reputation with the Mag'har (Horde) or the Kurenai (Alliance) and have 100 gold.

1. Travel to Outland through the Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands or via the portal from your faction's capital.
2. Make your way to Nagrand — a zone in the west of Outland. The Horde base is Garadar in the east of the zone, while the Alliance base is Telaar in the south.
3. Pick up all available quests in your settlement and begin working through the Nagrand quest chain.
4. Grind your reputation with the Mag'har or the Kurenai up to Exalted (42,000 points total from Neutral to Exalted).
5. Find the faction vendor: Provisioner Nasela in Garadar (Horde) or Trader Narasu in Telaar (Alliance).
6. Purchase the Reins of the Cobalt War Talbuk and use the item to learn the mount.

To reach Exalted you need to accumulate 42,000 reputation points from Neutral. The main sources are listed below.

Nagrand Story Quests (the main starting source)

Completing the full quest chain in Nagrand is the first step toward Exalted. The story quests will grant you a significant amount of reputation and bring you to roughly Revered. Don't skip the "Wanted" group quests of the series — they award increased reputation.

Killing Ogres

Each Boulderfist or Warmaul ogre you kill in Nagrand grants 10 reputation points. At max level, ogres die instantly, which makes this method an efficient supplement to turning in necklaces.

Obsidian Warbeads

Obsidian Warbeads are the main tool for grinding reputation from Revered to Exalted. The warbeads drop from Nagrand ogres at about a 30–35% chance.

• Turn in 10 warbeads at a time in the repeatable quest "Warbeads!"
• Each turn-in grants 500 reputation points
• For the Horde the quest is taken from Warden Bullroar in Garadar
• For the Alliance — from Warden Moi'bff Jill in Telaar

Zangarmarsh Quests

For the Alliance, grinding reputation with the Kurenai begins at Orebor Harborage in Zangarmarsh. Alliance characters start at Unfriendly reputation with the Kurenai, so you must first complete the quests in Zangarmarsh to reach Neutral and unlock the Nagrand quests. For the Horde, reputation with the Mag'har starts straight at Neutral.

Fast Method (Max Level)

At level 80 (The War Within), ogres in Nagrand die in a single hit. The optimal order of actions:

1. Fly into Nagrand through Outland.
2. Pick up all the story quests in your settlement and complete them — this takes 30–60 minutes and grants reputation up to roughly Revered.
3. Head to the ogre camps.
4. Kill ogres en masse, collecting Obsidian Warbeads.
5. Every 10 beads, return to the quest giver and turn in the repeatable quest "Warbeads!".
6. Repeat until you reach Exalted.

How Long It Takes

At max level, with continuous ogre farming, the path from Neutral to Exalted takes 2–4 hours. The Nagrand quests cut the time by 30–40%, so don't skip the story line.

Best Spots for Farming Ogres

The ogres in the northern and southern parts of Nagrand, especially around Halaa, are the best for gaining experience, cloth and reputation.

Rough Estimate

From Neutral to Exalted is 42,000 reputation points. Each ogre gives 10 points, and each turn-in of 10 necklaces gives another 500 points. At about a 33% drop chance for necklaces you get roughly 10 necklaces from 30 ogres. So from 30 ogres: 300 (for the kills) + 500 (for the necklace turn-in) = 800 reputation points. For 42,000 points you will need to kill roughly 1,500–1,600 ogres. At high level this takes 2–4 hours.
