Crimson Cranium Crusher — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Crimson Cranium Crusher is a one-handed mace from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is a massive bludgeoning weapon with a head the color of dried blood, mounted on a short, sturdy handle — visually it reads as a crude, barbaric implement, fitting for the vrykul it is taken from. Its item level is 80, and it binds when picked up.
The model fits well with looks that call for a heavy "crusher" without excessive ornamentation: the red stone of the head provides a bright splash of color, while the clean silhouette doesn't overload the set. All classes that wield a one-handed blunt weapon can use this mace for transmog — warriors, paladins, shamans, druids, and monks.

The Crimson Cranium Crusher is one of the choice rewards for the quest "Champion of the Amphitheater of Anguish" in Zul'Drak. It is not a boss drop: the item is guaranteed to everyone who completes the quest, so there is no way to miss out on it.
How to get it:
- Head to Zul'Drak, the northern zone of Northrend available since the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
- Find the Amphitheater of Anguish in the southern part of the zone (roughly coordinates 48, 56).
- Pick up the quest chain from the troll arena masters and work your way to the quest "Champion of the Amphitheater of Anguish."
- Step into the arena and defeat Vladof the Butcher — a level 30 vrykul champion.
- Return to the troll attendant Vodin and choose the Crimson Cranium Crusher as your reward.
Navigation coordinate:
At the current max level (90 in Midnight) the entire fight is soloed in a few seconds, no group required. Since the reward comes from a quest, you can claim exactly one copy per character — but different characters on the account can complete the quest independently.
Who it suits visually
- Suits armor with dark red and crimson accents — the mace head reinforces the overall blood-red tone of the set.
- Harmonizes with heavy plate sets of vrykul and Northrend themes, where a rough, utilitarian look is valued.
- Contrasts with light and gilded sets — a debatable but striking combination for a "grim warrior with a trophy weapon" look.
- Looks great paired with a dark-toned shield: a one-handed mace plus a massive shield gives the classic melee tank silhouette.
Tips
This is the fastest way to fill the one-handed blunt mace slot for transmog: the quest takes a couple of minutes on any melee class.
Before turning in the quest, choose your reward carefully — only one item from the list is granted, and you'll have to redo it on other characters for the rest.
If you want several looks from this quest, make characters of different classes: each can take its own weapon variant.
At max level Vladof the Butcher dies almost instantly; no healer or group is needed.
While you're at it, explore all of Zul'Drak: the zone is rich in Northrend-style weapons and armor, and many items fit the same color theme.
The appearance is saved to your collection forever once obtained, so the item itself can safely be sold or disenchanted after learning it.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
