Crimson Mudnose is an epic ground mount added in patch 11.0.2 of The War Within expansion. It is a mole with a crimson snout and a red saddle, traditionally used by kobolds as a mount. The mount is purchased from Waxmonger Squick in Gundargaz (The Ringing Deeps) for 8,125 resonance crystals at Renown level 19 with the Assembly of the Deeps faction.
According to the mount journal description: "Kobolds often ride mudnoses. The Assembly of the Deeps has provided you with one of the most loyal." The Crimson Mudnose is one of the ground mounts tied to the subterranean theme of The War Within.
To purchase the mount you must meet two conditions: reach Renown level 19 with the Assembly of the Deeps faction and accumulate 8,125 resonance crystals.
Waxmonger Squick is the quartermaster of the Assembly of the Deeps faction. He is located in Gundargaz, an underground kobold settlement in The Ringing Deeps.
If you do not yet have the flight point in Gundargaz, you can reach it via the main road from the starting area of The Ringing Deeps. Gundargaz is the zone's key hub, and you will unlock it while progressing through the story campaign.
Purchasing the Crimson Mudnose requires rank 19. Each Renown rank costs 2,500 reputation points, so you need to earn 47,500 points in total.
Completing the chain of The War Within campaign quests in The Ringing Deeps grants a substantial one-time Renown bonus. This is the first thing to do when building up the faction.
Assembly of the Deeps world quests appear in The Ringing Deeps on a regular rotation. Each quest rewards reputation points. Check the map several times a day so you do not miss any quests.
The weekly quest "A Walk in the Deeps" requires collecting
Firelight Rubies in The Ringing Deeps. This is one of the most important reputation sources, available once a week.
Killing rare mobs in The Ringing Deeps rewards reputation points with the Assembly of the Deeps. Rare enemies are marked with stars on the map — check for them every time you visit the zone.
The "Awakening the Machine" world event in The Ringing Deeps grants reputation and resonance crystals. Take part in several waves of the event to gain access to Awakened chests — they contain additional rewards.
Various side quests in The Ringing Deeps also reward reputation with the Assembly of the Deeps. Complete every available quest in the zone.
Resonance crystals are the currency of the Assembly of the Deeps faction. Purchasing the Crimson Mudnose requires 8,125 crystals. Here are the main sources.
At certain Renown ranks you receive resonance crystals automatically:
| Renown rank | Resonance crystals |
|---|---|
| 6 | 250 |
| 8 | 250 |
| 10 | 250 |
| 12 | 500 |
| 14 | 500 |
| 18 | 1,000 |
In total, ranks 6–18 give you 2,750 crystals. The rest must be earned through other means.
Interactive "Restless Ground" objects are scattered across the Isle of Dorn, Hallowfall, and The Ringing Deeps zones. Gathering them rewards resonance crystals. This is one of the few sources available with no quantity cap.
Completing weekly dungeon quests on alternate Warband characters rewards 225 resonance crystals per quest.
Earning the gold reward on any difficulty in racing events grants 95 resonance crystals on first completion.
As your Renown grows, the exchange rate of Kej currency for resonance crystals improves — up to 400 crystals per 100 Kej. This is a useful way to convert surplus currency.
Resonance crystals can be transferred between characters within the Warband. Gather crystals on alternate characters and send them to your main — this will significantly speed up accumulation.
With active daily completion of all available activities, reaching Renown 19 and accumulating 8,125 resonance crystals takes about 3–4 weeks. Using alternate Warband characters to farm crystals shortens this period.
While building Renown with the Assembly of the Deeps, you also pick up along the way:
Start with the campaign — the story quests in The Ringing Deeps grant a large one-time Renown bonus and unlock world quests. Without them, leveling will be significantly slower
Gather rubies along the way — Firelight Rubies for the weekly quest are scattered across the whole zone. Pick them up alongside completing world quests so you do not spend separate time searching for them
Use your Warband alts — resonance crystals transfer between characters. Complete dungeon quests and gather Restless Ground on several characters to speed up currency accumulation
Do not skip the Awakening the Machine event — this is a major world event in The Ringing Deeps that grants both reputation and crystals. Taking part in several waves unlocks access to Awakened chests with additional rewards
Check the map several times a day — world quests refresh on a rotation, and you may miss available quests if you log in only once a day
Keep an eye on the Kej exchange rate — as Renown grows the rate improves. If you have surplus Kej, convert it into resonance crystals
Plan your next mount — after buying the Crimson Mudnose, keep building Renown to rank 23 to unlock the flying mount Cyan Glowmite for 11,375 resonance crystals from the same quartermaster
