Cryptmaker — Transmog Set Guide
Overview

Cryptmaker is an epic-quality two-handed mace from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. It is a massive head of dark stone and tarnished metal, crafted in the grim funerary aesthetic of the Scourge: the handle is crowned with a block bearing faceted spikes reminiscent of tombstone carvings. The cold gray-steel palette without bright accents makes the model a versatile base for "necromancer" and "death knight" looks.
The weapon appeared in patch 3.3 alongside the opening of Icecrown Citadel and suits specializations that use two-handed bludgeoning weapons: warriors, death knights, as well as druids and shamans in transmogrification form. Its low item level is irrelevant today — players go after the mace purely for its appearance.
Source
The Cryptmaker drops in the Icecrown Citadel raid from the "Blood Prince Council" fight — the san'layn princes Prince Keleseth, Prince Taldaram and Prince Valanar, who share a common health pool.
- The encounter is located in the Crimson Hall wing, in the upper part of the citadel.
- The mace drops from the fight's shared loot on both 10- and 25-player difficulties.
- The drop chance is around 10–15% per kill, and the loot is split among all participants of the fight.
- The limit is one kill of the raid bosses per week on each difficulty mode.
- The content is outdated by many expansions, so the entire raid can be cleared solo with ease.
Who it suits visually
- It harmonizes with death knight sets from Icecrown Citadel thanks to the shared gray-steel palette and Scourge theme.
- It fits necromancer and dark warrior looks that need a heavy stone "smasher" without bright glows.
- It contrasts with light paladin armor — a debatable but expressive choice for a "fallen" concept.
- It pairs well with cloaks and belts in cold shades of blue and gray.
Tips
For farming, enter the raid once a week on the desired mode: boss loot resets weekly for each difficulty separately.
It is most convenient to farm on a character with high mobility and self-healing — for example, a death knight or paladin — to quickly run through the Crimson Hall wing.
Icecrown Citadel is easily cleared solo at the current maximum level, no group required.
Take both 10- and 25-player modes in the same week — this doubles your number of drop attempts.
The same fight has a chance to drop other items from the Blood Prince Council set, so check the full loot.
If the mace doesn't drop, remember that the entire raid can be rerun every week with no limit on the number of runs until the loot resets.

Started playing back in Pandaria, when the pandaren were still a novelty. Got stuck on Monk because it's the only class where you don't get dizzy after a dash. Tries to manage both tanking and kicking enemies in the face.
